Mods don't work

I downloaded the hyborian v2.0 mod and that mod based on Gothic 3. They both live up to the namesake of the latter as they don't work. Instead, midway in turning the game on I get a message saying something like "Couldn't find horse.(insert format here)". How do I get them to work?

Got the right Mount and Blade version? (for the hyborian steel mod it's .903 I think,correct me if I'm wrong)
