Hi, everyone. I am new to modelling as i just finished the wiki tutorial on using Blender, and a couple of video tutorials. I think i roughly got the hang of it, so now i want to try something. I got some questions, and i didnt find much modelling answers here. I hope some of you can answer them.

Firstly, when you model a weapon, do you need to add bones to it like for player models?

Then how would the weapon be swung? Do we need to add in animations of the swinging?

Thirdly, how would the game know how the weapon is held? Like what if the game makes the character hold the blade instead of handle?

How big should the model be? For example if i make a greatsword and it become scaled small and look like a knife.

Can i add in new weapons or do i have to replace it with an ingame weapon?

How can i set its attributes, for example weapon reach, damage, speed etc?

Do you have to make helms hollow for the players head?

What is the recommended number of faces and vertices?

Can we use textures not found in M&B?

How can we import models into the game? I heard alot on dds converters or something and i'm not sure what it does. What program will we need and what format will the new file become?

Lastly, Where should i place the new model file?

Hope there would be an M&B modelling tutorials for the aspiring newbs. Thanks.

Using the unofficial Mount & Blade editor will solve a lot of your problems. It's in the sticky at the very top of the thread. There's also a program called DDS converter which you might use. I haven't used it yet, but since you're messing with static meshes you might find it useful. I suggest in any event that you read the first stickied post as it has a lot of information.

I have already read the sticky post. In fact, just about every post in the first page, and got no answers. Could someone answer please?

Nobodys been adding any meshes, why? because it isn't possible yet. n008 REPLICATED(in one way or another) the old meshes to make new graphic "sets"(mesh+texture) for items.

We should get a mesh editor/converter (later is more likely) with the mod tools tought

What do you mean by adding meshed? I thought you just have to model something and it can be converted and put into the game? Then again i am a noob so thanks for pointing out. By the way, so we cant just make our own models and place into the game? It would be so cool if it could. :(

They are only texture, not a fully edited mesh/model, look at Eagle114th Kataphratoi, you see the cataphract chainmail? the two parts of the chain mail is suppose to join together, but since he can't change to mesh, he just have to let it seperate
