Modding Help

Hi, I would really like to know how to mod, I know there are a whole bunch of things that help me mod because this is a modding forum. I would really like to know where you get the software to mod games from. I would start searching this froum after I know where to get this software. I have some pretty good mod ideas but have no clue where to get the software. I know I will be considered a noob when I start but I will test some mods. Eventually I will get better. I have checked google but really no help, I checked wikipedia, no help. I need to here how to mod from a person who actually knows how to mod.

Modding isn't one thing that can be done to all games so much as simply a game allowing it to be done.

For modding mount and blade, you'd need all (or most) of this stuff:

However, modding Rome Total War or somesuch is completely different. There is no single tool that mods everything, just what the developers release and usually what some devoted programmer fans make (ala Thorgrim making the Map Editor and BRFedit.)

You have to be curious and willing to learn. Not affraid of changing code etc.

Just make a backup from your original Mount&Blade and get started! Download some off the tools Ruthven linked you and use them.
Start by changing some troops and items with the unofficial editors and later on you can add your own weapons/quests/npc's.
