Modding Functionality with Mac

Hello everyone, I have always been interested in modding. I love taking things apart and putting them together in a new way that is even better. Yet, I have run into a problem that halts it completely.
I use a mac, I use an IMac to be specific. I love my IMac it works great and runs everything smoothly, yet people don't seem to make tools for mac. With games I can usually get a workaround with some sort of wrapper or wine, which I have been using PaulTheTall's mac version for ages and it works so well. But, people don't make tools that work nicely with mac, and wine works great I can get many things running and such but tools like OpenBRF just don't work with wine, the buttons don't show up and it's a whole process for nothing.

I know there are such things as parallels, yet it costs 80 dollars and I am not willing to spend that much. What I am asking is if the community has any knowledge of certain tools that work great with wine, or have a wrapper of sorts but might be less popular?

IF Not, I will take it to myself try to convert these tools to working with Mac, don't quote me on this or depend on me with this. It'll be more of a project for me if the community can't accumulate enough tools to make it easy to mod with mac.

OpenBrf can work almost perfectly with Wine, and has for many years (I use it on Linux, but there shouldn't be any reason why a Mac would be different).

Odd, whenever I use it is pretty much non functional. Might be a Mac thing.
