I've decided to turn the former Onin no Ran forum into a forum for modders. It's not totally done yet, and it still needs some work. Anyway, this way I can support serious modding for Mount and Blade and hopefully broaden the audience a little for mount and blade too. On the long term I hope to offer new and veteran modders tutorials, forum spots, general discussion about modding, and so on.

I can't offer downloads to anyone at the moment (due to the huge amount of bandwidth that would ask, in theory I can go as far as 100gb a month, but I'm not too sure about that)

Anyway, you can access the community at oninran.thorned.nl, and soon to be mbmodding.thorned.nl.

Further more, if your mod is capable, dedicated and promising, you can apply for a forum spot, and I'll see to it .

Edit: Ofcourse I'm looking for some enthousiastic/dedicated moderators, just PM me and I'll see what we can come up to.

Edit2: Site is now accessible via mbmodding.thorned.nl

Hope to see all you modders there,

Thorn

We do have a site that is hosting current mods, M+B Repository, I do not think we really need another. But having a modders forum is a great idea.
ANd lin kthe mtogether.

I think we should concentrate on only one site.

I prefer one large, full of stuffs, mods, tutorials ect than several sites and have only little to offer from each.

Sorry for bad English, I have begin to study it for a few month.

Well, modders have a site for putting their downloads, but they don't have a decent place yet to talk. The official forum can get chaotic very fast.

This is exactly the type of **** I was talking about when Armagan first talked about the mod tools. The modding community is in no way united (with a few exceptions like the collaboration that led to mag 7) and branches off to a million directions. We who merely want to play the mods have to hunt them down from different forums, sites, etc.
This is what happened to Morrowind. A few good mods suffocated by a million "I shat on my keyboard and this mod is what happened"- mods that you have to wade through in the million near identical mod-sites.

The best thing to do IMO would be to have some kind of ranking system for posts. That way you can rank the good mods, and the long lasting mods can be maybe put in a separate forum section where you cannot create new threads, only have moderators move the popular mods there. Sure it’s a bit more work, but it would make things a lot easier for everyone I think.

Anyway I agree with meatbag999 etc, best not to have more than 1 forum as long as we can keep this one organised.

Maybe some of you have misunderstood: it's a community for modders, not for mod consumers. Especially for the big organized mods, who don't have anywhere to talk but in HUGE threads on these forums .

 Some of you are assholes.

He's offering to put together mod tutorials, a forum, and possibly a secondary mod hosting site (Janus only has so much bandwidth, and I think it would be good to have a backup site in case there's an overflow of mods).

Thorn, I like the idea, wish you luck, and offer my services as a moderator of the forums, if you'd like.

Well it sounds good, as long as the actual mods are still all posted in one place. I guess having development forums for some of the mods would be a great thing to have in another forum to keep these ones cleaner

Why should there be a distinction between mod-users and makers? we are the ones who hunt down the bugs. We are the ones who give feedback. Besides, if there is need for a separate forum for tips and questions about modding, surely you could incorporate one on these boards.

Well, I still looking for a place with Tools and Tips, but the tools are one one site, and the tips are here all spread around... Maybe what someone should be doing is going to those whom have created the unofficial editors and look to document them. You want to benifit the community, then give better availability to the information.

...Anyone who is attempting to create a large, elaborate total conversion mod involving numerous modders is quite welcome to attempt to use a single thread on this forum to develop it. Good luck.

You all misunderstand him, as a number of fellow Onin no Ran developers misunderstood me when I mentioned we should have a seperate forum to develop it. The intention is not to move completely, but to provide a huge work area that a large mod like Onin no Ran needs to grow. There is still a thread for it on this site, and when significant progress is made, and when it is completed, it will be posted there, and fans and beta testers are welcome to help out in that thread as well as on the other forum if they so wish.

Well said! Like I said, modders who need a spot or people who want to moderate or just want to mod, feel free to visit the forums and leave a message. At the moment that's still oninran.thorned.nl

Forum address is in Thorn's sig.

Yes, it definitely helps people who need some help. I remember spent 2 hours to find out the thread that contains how to make silver texture. With thorn's forum, it would be reduced to 10-30 minutes.

I'm still looking for moderators and enthuastic people. Feel free to drop by anytime. Like what was allready stated, the idea is not to move any community anywhere. The idea is create a more specialized forum for Mount and Blade Forums.
