Mod support suggestions

Okay, this could go in the Suggestion forum I suppose, but it matches here as well. How about we try getting together a list of things we'd like to see for mod support. This is not suggestions for mods, but suggestions for support that we'd like to see in order to make mods.

I'll list a couple I can think of...

1. Fix the upgrade unit specification (both first and second upgrade) so that any unit value from 0 to 255 will always work regardless of where the unit is in the file.

2. Have module_info.txt (or another file) have the filenames to all resources that the module will load. That way if a mod wishes to override the standard resources (say from CommonRes), they can do so without messing around with the other mods.

3. There still seems to be files in the M&BData directory that a mod might want to override. For example, even if the function of a skill isn't changeable, a mod may want to change the name or description. Either allow it to be overriden via #2 above or move more of the files into the ModXXXdirectory.

4. I mentioned this elsewhere, but... Have savegames be on a per mod basis.

  1. be able to add skills/stats via scripting events
  2. (maybe) be able to change the items of npcs in player's party. for example, have some sort of 'if Marnid is in party then AddToCharecter Marnid Sword of War' functionality
  3. change the hitpoints and concious (spelling)/unconcious status of charecters and the player
  4. more upgrade paths per unit

Here's a suggestion: The ability to change font type and color. It'd help if I was able to turn the text for this interface white:
