Hey there, I had a look at the download thread, and noticed it was made in 2011. Is Sword of Damocles (both M&B and Warband) still being developed? Or are you planning to move it over to M&B 2?

If it is still being developed, is there an ETA on when the next update will be out?

SoD for M&B is finished.
SoD:W For Warband is still in development Hopefully there will be a new version this year.

But this is a complete overhaul of the mod, not just a simple update

Oh really? Oh I'm very excited! I must've put atleast 200 hours in SoD back on M&B.
I tried downloading it again, but it keeps crashing at random interfalls. Warlords looks amazing, but I loved the many features of the original.

quite a lot actually, the problem with the M&B version is that as was said, it crashes quite a lot, when compy took it over he tried to get it as stable as he could but the code is a bit of an unorganised mess

Most of the features you find in the original are being 're-imagined' for SoD:W, hopefully in ways that will be more stable, also there is a whole lot planned that isn't in the original.

As for what is in the original:

Edicts: When you setup your own kingdom, there are a lot of choices that you can make about how your kingdom runs, some that supprt villages over towns and vice versa, some that support peasants or nobles or clergy, all with their own plus and minus, plus a lot of other edicts like holy war and things.

Mercenaries: You have Mercenary camps all over the map in SoD, these units are also in SoD:W, but the full merc system has not been adapted yet.

Troop Upgrades: In SoD you cannot upgrade troops, unless a town has the right culture and buildings for the particular level up (this makes getting more troops a right pain early on )

Invasion: this is obviously the big bit, where the imperial legion descend upon calradia to lay waste to it, unless ye the great hero can thwarteth them!

There is probably a lot more that I have forgotten...

He just listed the stuff that is missing (for now at least) in the WB version.

to clarify:

M&B (original) Version SoD

has more stuff in it than

M&B Warband SoD:W

When SoD was active it had a much larger team working on it, right now from a 'coding, gameplay' perspective SoD:W only has Compy working on it.

SoD(Original) content was never fully finished (from the point of view of it not occasionally or randomly exploding) which is why simply picking stuff up and dumping it into SoD:W is a bad idea (not to mention the coding differences that were introduced to warband making some things incompatable anyway)

But the good news is SoD:W is still being developed all be it slowly. I keep telling compy to suck it up and get on with it!!

occasionally he listens

I played it a bit like 2 or so years ago(warband version i think, not 100 sure though), and even then it was pretty decent, by now im sure it has more content added then back then. Ill just try it out and see for myself.

Glad to hear its still going on even if slow.

Ive been playing the original SoD lately and ive yet to have the game crash, im using ironlauncher and the enhanced version of m&b though so it might make a difference (the build you download from taleworlds seem to be an outdated version).

There is still a problem with the Bad boy system slowing the game down considerably and buildings that are supposed to alleviate that are buggy.I do hope in the next version of Warlord a similar system will be introduced to make sure kingdoms dont expand too quickly.

basically the next version of SoD:W (well maybe not the next it really depends on what gets done) will be completely different, and by6 the time we finish it will be something t5hat I think no one will be disappointed with.

I just need to keep motivating compy's butt!

Yeah I'm working on it, I'm currently working on the Caribbean project full time though so it'll be a while before I can get the new sod on the net. There are. A lot of features I'm implementing into the new sod. Though a few things will be making there way into Caribbean first.

Caribbean! ?
That game is pretty fun, early access is quite a deal for a game these days.
Sounds good.
Heck yeah it its good, it'll only get better from here on out, I'm responsible for the Eco system there so except some additional content there.

I even missed Caribbean until this thead.
Just bought it in steams early access, got no time to play atm, but its worth the support.
M&B has so endless potential that Taleworlds seems to be unwilling or unable to use (With fire and sword was an insolence, there was m&b 1.0 Mods that was way better and more finished), so it is great to see such things.

Thanks alot for your work in all your projects

Well still, there was better Mods with a similar setting (Radiant Cross), Mods that was way more inovative (POP, Weddingdance (made by ONE person alone)), Star Wars Conquest, Brytenwalda and last but not least, Sword of Damocless.

To sell something with a quality like F&S does the name "Mount and Blade" or "Warband" no favor (although i loved the fireweapon-impact).

Take a  look at F&S (sold) and then take a look for an example (because its completly done) on Brytenwalda (for free), and then tell me which of both deserves the money.

I really don´t care to play the ******* here , but the test combatant of Damocless has already brought me 10 times the funtime that F&S ever will do (hey at least i bought it).
Maybe i am overhonest, but i didn´t got the feeling that F&S got half the love and dedication that some of the mentioned mods got, that starts with the loveless map and ends with the gameplay.

So beat me

Yeah  I do know what you mean, F&S did have some solid innovations, the specialist merc camps with the upgradable equipment for one, but as much as I tried to enjoy it it did feel 'lacking' some how, I could never quite figure out what about it that was 'wrong' but as much as I wanted to enjoy it, it so often felt like work to play it..

SoDW will blow everything out of the water when it is done thoguh
