Mod Request: Attack Animations!

Sergeant at Arms
I am sure that I am not the only one who hates the new attack animations. I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to please replace them with the ones from Vanilla (I unfortunately lack the knowledge) or make new ones that look decent?
I have never really done a request like this, but the current animations are so retarded that it ruins the gameplay for me. I really want to port my mod over to Warband, but with these animations, I would rather just keep playing MB Vanilla.

Thanks,

Now that the module system has been released, does any kind soul want to make this mod so that others can use it as a base?
If you know how to and have the time, please do. I do not know how to, and I cannot play Warband right now because those lousy animations drive me nuts.

How would you implement an animation without the ability to split via action.txt (which doesn't work yet for warband)? I mean you have all the information you need in the module system anyway, right?

Once you can do that resurrecting the retro mode legoman animations is just a simple copy paste job.

edit: forget what I said, the auto-split gives the correct intervals anyway. Still can't seem to wedge new animations in though (not suprising since the only way I know how do do it is with dreamterror's tutorial).

What do you mean split?

Haha, I just made the most ridiculous mistake imaginable. I went into my modules directory and saw all these text files with "native" at the beginning of the title, and it took me half a day to realise all that was missing was the last forward slash in "C:/mount&blade warband/Modules/Native/". Still can't get the sound of a thousand foreheads being slapped in unison out of my ears.

Anyway, if you want to put the old animations back (personally I don't think it's worth the effort) you can do it yourself, it shouldn't be difficult. Just follow dreamterror's tutorial for replacing animations:    http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,78702.msg2131205.html#msg2131205    -only instead of going into max and making your own animations just use ones exported from old mount and blade (using the warband module system instead of the old one of course).

hmmmm...thank you for the help. I have tried getting this to work (been really busy with finals, so it took a while ) but have not been able to. Since you know how to do it could you please copy and paste it and send me the mod folder? I have never been able to get the BRF program to work on my computer and I do not know why. That is why I have not put any custom models into my mod.

Hi

You have animation mod here:

Thanks Idibil! I tried it out, and to be honest, I really did not like them that much better than Warbands. The only ones I really like were the crouching shield block ones. I was really hoping that someone would do something like that with the native animations.

Actually, I got a really kewl mod in the works, and all I really need for it is for someone to fix these ridiculous animations for me. Darnnit, I wish that I had a motion capture studio and an animation team.

Sorry, i read fast and bad

lol, they are not the native ones though. From what I saw of his animations some of them looked pretty good, but I don't like things like sword circle and stuff. What I really want is for someone to just take the Native M&B animations and make a Warband mod of them. No offense, but I have seen other people's animations, and I just don't like them as much.

So does anyone want to make a mod replacing Warband's animations with M&B's? I would really appreciate it.

*Bump*
I have not been able to do it myself, and I would reall appreciate if someone would take the time to make this. It could be used as a base for any modder who likes the old animations more.

The animations are there, so it's not that hard. All you do is go through warband's module_animations and replace every entry with the matching entry from 1.011's module_animations. If it's not in the 1.011 module_animations then you leave it alone. Simples

Yes, I have been told that, but I have not been able to get it to work. If you can get it to work, can you send me the a copy of a Native Module that you did it too? (that way I could use it as a base for my mod) If you would be kind enough to do that, I would of course give you full credit.

I have been working on this too, because the new animations especially the mounted animations are difficult to use.  I'm afraid however that we are screwed.  The BRF files seem to be all different and creating a mod that uses the old BRF files is apparently beyond my skill level.  Hopefully someone more capable than you or I will fix this.  They took the one part of the game that was perfect, the mounted combat, and changed it. Why would they do that?
