Dragon's arn't as neccesary, but for dwarves, could you simply focus on giving every one of them the shortest helmet in the game, and maybe decreasing that by a few inches as well? Instead of having 4.5" dwarves, you'd have 5.3" Dwarves that don't get a headshot if you aim a bit to high, but if you gave them stocky armor (plate armor mesh for all of them basically) it'd look realistic enough to for dwarves. Afterall, they arn't that small (http://www.babtech-onthe.net/lotr1.jpg) as like hobbits.
