SP Fantasy Mod Idea - The First Age

Lol, didn't know what to write, so that's how it came out.

The mountains of Greenwood The Great is cool, but the oceans are cooler .

The only advantage the Edain had over any of the elven races was their ability to rapidly reproduce. IIRC, the orcs reproduced at a similar rate to the Edain, but matured faster (not sure as it's been AGES since I've read any of Tolkiens works).

As for a first age mod, I'd like to see one. I'm sure it's doable. Even the dragons. There's a demo around here somewhere that has a flyable spaceship in it, so the engine does support movement on the Z-axis.

Lol, i'm just waiting on Thus Spake Nosferatus to reply on my pm.

But anyways, i have been thinking on a new feature, but it might not be possible, the thought is that certain units would be afraid of certain key players, like Beleg, Túrin, Húrin etc...

Do you think it's possible?

Would be cool though, but it was a long shot, still got other features i've been thinking on.

the men of the first age were some kind of half-elves, fathers of dunedain (if I have understood right )
but there were only few, some$ of them were bandits ect... (and they didn't mach the elves, but helped them in war against morgoth)

ps. I will help you if I can, but first i'm going to solve this python mess on my computer
(everything in this thing seems to be some kind of understandable...after I will get the things assembled)
if my comments about men of the first age were wrong, please, tell what was wrong.. I readed tolkiens the children of húrin about a half of a year ago

pps. I'd love to see about 50 elven archers shooting at a big balrog
is that possible to make them? like smaller than they're told, but still much bigger than trolls?

High renown means that enemies are afraid of you. You can clearly see it when you solo groups and after you get to like 3000 renown, groups of like 30 or so are afraid of you. So by giving those key characters huge renown, most would be running from them.

But then again, if you want to implement it as a morale penalty, I have no idea how to implement that.

Well, there has been lots of talk about auras of different kinds. Should someone find out how to make one, it would be easy to have the aura do a fall back order on the enemy. At least in theory.

that would be cool
see the enemy line breaking and soldiers running on every direction and not following orders

so, is there going to be a mod? I've learned all the modding basics now and could do some work...

Yes there is, although without Thus Spake Nosferatu's expertise of modding, 'cause he has moved on from modding.

If you want to help go here: http://z9.invisionfree.com/exilian/index.php?act=idx

So there's forums and screenshots up there now, go look and wonder in amazement as the first age comes to life!

Hi,

there is an OLD realism mod with working dynamic morale during battles. I think it is for 0.751. When a side has taken enough casualties/damage they will actually start running away. You might check it out.

BTW, I really look forward to a mod set in the First Days.

Regards, Oldtimer.

I must admit, when I saw this thread I didn't think it'd happen. After seeing some real screens, I'm impressed.

You really should host those screenshots here and put a link on the front page to deter sceptism.

And also changing the name to - The First age, and loosing the Mod Idea part would also be good.
BTW any chance of a cameo appearance of some moriquendi? Coolest race ever.

Well since Sindar is a part of the Moriquendi, so yes.
