I've been searching the forum (while at work...so I might have missed it) for a mod on formations in Warband.

Has any mod been created for this yet?Or has the 94 pages of Formation posts gone unanswered?

I recall in memory i red about mode in which you can choose various formations BEFORE entering battle (or this feature as part of bigger mode) - sorry i dont know exact name. And i am not sure if it was for MaB or Warband too - still playing vanilla myself..

Hehe Thanks for the reply though

Good to know there is something released...

I'm green to the whole Mount & Blade thing.Downloaded 200mb Mods and realised all of them were for a different type of M&B...or something like that...almost uncapped almost uncapped.

Anyhoe!Anyone else know of anything?

Something like this would be great. I hate it when my Swadian cav jus flies off gung-ho.

I find by having the cavalry "follow me" right up to about 20 meters from the enemy (and then "charge") they'll smash into and overrun the entire line rather than clumping up at a single point.  After that, though, it's just a big mess.  Real formations would be a boon.

I do this from time to time, but once they've finished spinning around from being told to follow me, we tend to get Khergits right in our faces.

Modders have been working on formation kits for some time--since early with the original M&B in fact--and there are a few different kits out and about in The Forge. (Kits are 'mini-mods', essentially source code that can be incorporated by other modders into larger mods or by individuals into their own mods or the Native code.)

The most current and active formation kit is done by Motomataru (edited and greatly enhanced from Mirathei's earlier work). Notably, it is used in the mod Brytenwalda. The kit is discussed toward the end of this thread and the most current download at time of post is found here. You can add it to Native's source (or any mod's source for that matter) relatively easily as it uses the ModMerger Framework.

The full-conversion (Dark Ages Britain) mod Brytenwalda uses the formations coded above, as I mentioned, with no extra work required to use them.
Similarly, the self-contained mod Custom Commander adds some formation-like things, as well as a number of further modifications if you want to give that a whirl. (It is also merged with a version of Diplomacy in the "Open Source Project Mod".) All of these are available in The Caravanserai.

@Spazzimus: so, yes, modders are working on answering the cries of the masses--which is apparently what they should be doing? (Or perhaps they are just tinkering with finding ways to add useful features to the game, which frequently many want...in any case...) In another "modders at work" update, per your queries in the King's Court: beta Pre-Battle Orders & Deployment. (The source code kits: Pre-Battle Orders and Pre-Battle Deployment).
