Misconception of Mount&Blade

Has anyone noticed that most people who hear about this game first think its an MMO or online game? When I first originally saw it, I thought it was an MMO. Always when I'm playing on Xfire, people ask me "Is it Any Good?". I reply with "Yes" and then they'll ask "How much is it per month?". This has happened 3 times already.

Why do people think this is an online game? Is it the title?

Wow. It's ages since I've used xfire. I'v had friends ask my questions about it though. "IZ IT ONLINE??/!!11 NO??1 DATS SO GAI!!!1"

But then they play it, love it, try buying the serial key of me.

Well, if you see the videos, you might think it's an mmorpg because the AI is so good, but if you just hear about it, and think it's online, you're an arse.

I actually thought it was multiplayer for a while.  I did a lot of arena fighting when I started, and from time to time these better, named people, Xerina and Dranton and them, came along.  I thought those were other players because of how well they did with the AI.

I hoped it was multiplayer by the time I finished the training but I quickly figured out it wasn't. So thats why-- if this version of M&B ever gets finished-- I hope we have some multiplayer in M&B 2. Also, if this was made into an MMO I'd be really happy because it would solve my biggest issue with MMO's: crappy combat.

My God, haven't heard from you in a while.

Personally, I never suffered under this particular illusion.

So did I - good thing I checked it out anyway, I much prefer single-player games.
So do I, besides, i usually play drunk, so i would be totally pwned by other people if it was a multiplayer game.

Another stupid standing-foe exp-grinding MMORPG with a ****ing overpriced monthly fee?
PLEASE... May the mighty viking gods spare us from such a shame.

Before I played, I thought it was online...I played through a few levels and found out it was single player. I was a little disappointed, but now I love the game and will continue to do so. Also, at first the graphics were a bit too icky for me. I've gotten over that and the graphics don't look that bad to me anymore.

I don't know... I found about it from HOTU when it was still alive (summer 2005), and since he/she (is Sarinee a male or female name) actually plays and reviews the games linked to by the site, I knew what kind of game to expect...

Dead, huh? http://www.the-underdogs.info/

I must have been unclear... I didn't say "dead" as in "the link is dead". I knew he/she had changed domain (hell, it's even on Wikipedia, so it's not exactly a secret...).
I said "dead" as in "since the site's last update was January 13th 2006, we might as well assume that the admin is dead, leaving a millionaire foundation which has the sole purpose of paying off the annual registration fee and the bandwidth".

I found it through HOTU too, it was one of the last updates of that great site.
AFAIK Sarinee is a female name anyways.

I found it by reading RPGDot and I agree with Daimyo because I have played Everquest, Ultima Online and Dark Age of Camelot but ultimately I prefer single player. I am an old man by gaming standards so if you are a youngster online multiplay is the most fun I guess but when I was playing Dark Age I joined a guild and those people were playing for twelve hours a day, I can't even come up with four hours every day. <edit>The Errol Flynn avator of christhawk makes me laugh because Errol looks like he is in tears because of all the booze he drank during the last three days with his buddies.
