I love the fact we have all these extra troop trees in the game; and it certainly makes particular fights very memorable. Gathering up a party of these troops should feel like a great success but there's too many obstacles right now and too little incentive to achieve this.

- Minor faction troops cap out at tier 4. Though they are all very capable tier 4 troops this fundamentally makes them weaker then any other troop tree which can be acquired much much easier.

- The only way to gather them efficiently is by beating up their respective parties - again this is very counter intuitive to how it should work / feel.

I feel however that this could be fixed quite simply with just the mechanics we have in game already.

1) Make all minor faction troop trees cap out at tier 5; there is no reason they have to be gimped in this way.

2) Add a few villages round the map that have Minor faction notables in; a few for each faction. This would be a brilliant way of allowing you to build up a reasonable amount of these troops; and make the possession of these villages that much more interesting.

3) Add in a way to purchase troops from the neutral or allied Minor Faction nobles. Just a simple dialog option along the lines of "May I hire some of your men". As long as you have some sort of positive relation you can pay a modest sum to acquire a number of minor faction troops from their party using the normal barter interface.

These three simple things alone would make having the minor factions in game feel that much more valuable as a source of unique and interesting troop options.

This is a more general problem. Same is true for bandits and trader-troops. Actually all troops that is not faction-regulars starting at peasants has the same issue. I think all these trees should be more accessible - maybe alot more accessible than faction-troops actually. Who am I to recruit proper warfare-troops unless I am part of a faction of that culture? Minor faction rebels/mercenaries, Caravanists and Bandits on the other hand are troops for lowborn warlords!

Agree! Simelar solutions for recruiting caravanists from merchants and bandits from gangleaders/hidouts.
I actually feel these 3 types of troop-trees should be more accessible than proper regular-trees. Who am I to recruit proper regiments from an faction I´m not part of?

Here I disagree though. Regularists should have the excelling triumph over all irregular trees.

I respectively disagree with this point - I am not asking for Minor faction troops to be better; but at least comparable to their main faction alternatives. For example why are Legion of the Betrayed Trarii worse then Empire legionaries? From their lore alone they sound more capable then the modern Empire troops.

Also the Skolderbrotva - as the 'Joms Vikings' of Bannerlord should be some of the mightiest warriors on the continent; certainly this is how their flavour text depicts them. But in reality they are surpassed by all normal factions main infantry.

I know alittle of the lore, sorry. There might be cases where a 5th layer might make more sense and other where they don't.

But legendary warbands capability might more stand in the compositions and how they are used in battle than in the individual quality. A band of 20 T4 Skolderbrotva's would likely exell against a mixed band of T2 - T5 emperial Infantry(in Legionary-tree). That that´s the thing with elite bands - thery fight side-by-side equals. In a most historical regular armies, there is 10 recruits for each elite-tiered veteran. The regular veteran himself is superior to most individual soldier in the elite band but his team-mates are far less capable. I think in straigt Battle 20 Skolderbrotva should beat 30 regular infanterists of any faction with composition T5 - 10, T4 - 5, T3 - 7 and T2 - 8 and that´s far from the 10-1 example stated above

Making sure Merc - leaders specialice in perks adding XP to low-levels and 1H specialisations, 1H T4 units should Excell! and they should specialize! They are not ment to fight an army alone, they are ment to be an elite squad in an army. The challenge is to keep them together on the field without mixing other infantry- trach into their ranks, and keep there partyleader as their booster, not the armyleader. Then they can be the force of nature they are ment to be!

As a player, this ofc is harder. You fight alot of your battles alone and need a broader army.

as a aserai bedouin i must say...the lack of sources to recruit bedouin troops "peacfully" is very depressing..or the fact they dont have simple horse archers or camel archers its very very depressing...
