Even with the recent changes to likelihood, the ability to escape immediately after being taken prisoner still exists and is still annoyingly common. One possible solution: prisoners can't escape for at least a couple of days. Also, I forget if prisoners can heal or not, but another way to do it is that they can't escape until they reach some percentage of health - a comatose lord/lady probably isn't going to be mounting any sort of escape or negotiating a bribe for release. Once either the time or healing criteria is met, escape becomes a possibility. This would at least provide some guarantee the captive will be out of commission for a while instead of potentially insta-spawning back home.
