Midway's games, sponsored by the US Air Force

Not that I play games by how reviewers grade 'em, but that Area 51 scored quite low in Gamespot. At least it doesn't look all that ugly.

I played both Area 51 and The Suffering, problem was they put Ads in the game that pop up randomly,i had times where i was just about to snipe something and BAM an ad about some rocket taking off pops up and ruins it

i got rise and fall i thought it was a great game, played it 2 times now my pc overheats whenever i play it...  :???: area 51 i played on was quite good but blacksite was the worse fps ive been on in a long time.

I've played the Suffering, but got stuck. some electric puddle blocked my way.

Site doesn't work  Is it cause they know I won't enlist?

Edit: Apparently, no, the links were just screwy, I just had to bypass the ad thingy in the beginning.

The ads have not been implemented very well. I tried playing Area 51 but the ad component refused to work, making the game unable to run (perhaps this was because I'm not in the U.S., it certainly wasn't my antivirus/firewall); in the end I had to download a fix, after which it runs without any problems (although also without any ads). It's quite an interesting game, although the lack of saving really hurts it (it relies on checkpoints, but they aren't as numerous as in Crysis or the like, resulting in frustrating repetition at some points).

If they can fix their ad component to work on all systems (or work worldwide, if that's the problem) I can certainly see this being an attractive method of profiting from older titles. GameTap takes the complete opposite route, which is somewhat preferable: rather than injecting the ads into the games themselves they are simply shown before loading the game, which means problems with the ad component can't make the game unplayable (if it can't receive the ad footage for whatever reason it simply skips it).

The games are not available outside the US (I.E. They are not supposed to work and forcing them to do so is piracy,)

Seeing as the games are paid for by the US Air Force for recruiting purposes, it's kind of obvious why they wouldn't work outside of the US.

At least the outer world will think less bad of US military. Theoretically.

They worked for me. Without doing anything. Perhaps they want me to move there and enlist?

I'm an American citizen anyway, so moving there and joining seems likely now that I'm playing a game about government conspiracies

Yeah, they could have picked better games. Unfortunately, the propaganda didn't work on me. I realised after trying to play for a few minutes that my computer wasn't up to the task and deleted the games, with the propaganda. They should have handed out computers capable of running the games too.

Why? Do they eat up all of that processing power?
