Messed up cattle glitch

So far I've only made two edits to my game files (in this current installment anyway) - make cattle follow me and "meet with village elder" on the menu screen for villages.  The cattle one works right, but when I click meet with village elder, I get a bunch of red error text, and when I leave the village there are 90 heads of cattle just waiting for me.

It makes completing cattle quests really easy, but I sure would love to be able to meet with the village elder rather than trying to find him each time.  Any idea what might have gone wrong?

Did you make a back up file of the requiered .txt files?
Try doing it again, maybe you made a mistake.
(Be sure that you don't use the ones for Mount&Blade with Mount&Blade: Warband
