I hate to say it but it looks like this one may not come home all the way, but I guess we will see if some miracles can happen the last two weeks. I think there is just a general burn out on kick starter lately and unfortunately the whole point of it, taking some relative unknowns and allowing them to work full time on a game, seems to be relegated back to only established dev's getting significant pledges.  Maybe they should have said 'rogue like procedural generated pixel medieval combat game'.

I'm hoping I'm wrong but I think it's gotten enough attention, just something missing as the hook, but I guess I could argue that same thing about m&b multiplayer... for all the people that play it singleplayer, a lot bounced off the multi. I'm not sure why chivalry seemed to get more attention. I can understand wotr and vikings getting more attention since they are attached to the paradox PR machine, but chiv for some reason was able to easily pass up a superfluous 50k kickstarter goal, but perhaps it was because it was during the earlier KS bubble.

They are the strongest comparrison since both have roots in modding, and I'd argue the cRPG community is/was bigger than the original chiv one.

Tough genera, the medieval melee game...

Yeah, idk, maybe it would have been better for them to start with a lower goal to gain some momentum. The Kickstarter is sitting at $31,771 right now, so with a little bit of work something like $50,000 seems reasonable.

Yeah, maybe doing 2. Start with 50k, that should allow them to keep working on the project. With more to show, and some dedicated PR time, they can launch a 2nd one next year hopefully with media coverage.

Chivalry is also a game that requires less of a budget to complete. The game modes, combat systems etc are all straightforward and quite simple.

Well, they gathered 43k on a mere promise from the cRPG community within like two weeks at the start of 2012. There were still some people that missed the limited time this original investment option was open and they were pretty vocal about it. I guess they kinda expected a bigger initial bump from the cRPG community, which would have put the funding on a much more promising track. I did too but it is easy to forget that cRPG was about twice as active in 2012.

I still think there are huge groups that could be interested that haven't really been reached, but it is pretty tough to gain exposure in a good way and Kickstarter is in a huge slump as far as games by unknown indie developers go. Aside from that I think they might have fired a little early, with lots of the core gameplay being very work in progress. Chivalry looked like a pretty far along game when its Kickstarter started. To appeal to those already familiar with the genre, it is critical to demonstrate why this gameplay is as good or better than other Medieval action games.

Well, in any case, they got their name out there even if the Kickstarter fails. This game will be finished without a doubt at some point, perhaps if they can re-Kickstarter with a more far along product, they'll fare better in the future. Hoping for a miracle still though, I know these guys are making sacrifices to work on this.

I think the Stronghold mode is the most special thing about this game aka 'the parade horse', all the other modes seem pretty standard (but necessary for any modern game nowadays). I hope they keep developping it. Maybe some form of early access like Rust or DayZ, which were top-selling for months and months after their release (albeit at lower than full-game prices) but let's face it, games like insurgency and chivalry have to go for sales pretty quickly to keep selling.

Just saw this game on 9gag trending page. That's easily 100k pair of eyes. I don't know if that's any helpful.

If the kickstarter doesn't go through then do I get my money back or how does it work? (Not expecting anyone to know)

Also their new website looks fantastic.
