A particular area in history I've been fascinated with, and which I believe has not been properly represented in Mount and Blade, is the world of 527 AD. Rome had fallen and an Ostrogothic kingdom ruled there. The Vandals happily held onto the vastness of North Africa. The Franks held the remants of Gaul. It seemed like the Empires of old were dead in the west.

In the East however, we had the Eastern Roman Empire and Sassanid Empire, which were both happily going at each other, with 527 AD marking the beginning of the Iberian War and the beginning of Belisarius' career. This is the part of the world I would primarily wish focus on for a mod, and their attempts to reconquer the remnants of the Western Roman Empire.

Factions would include:

Byzantine Empire: A well-rounded force, with well-trained infantry, cavalry, and composite bowmen, the Byzantine troop tree would look something like this:

Byzantine Psioloi->Byzantine Skutatori Infantry->Byzantine Varangian Guard
                                                              ->Byzantine Hippeis->Byzantine Kataphractos
                      ->Byzantine Peltast->Byzantine Toxtotes->Trebizond Toxtotes
                                                                              -> Byzantine Hippetoxtotes -> Byzantine Kataphract Toxtotes

Sassanid Empire: A powerful counterpart to the Byzantines, with stronger emphasis on cavalry and archers instead of infantry.

Sassanid Militia->Sassanid Infantry->Sassanid Immortal
                                            ->Sassanid Cavalry->Sassanid Cataphract
                  ->Sassanid Archer->Sassanid Archer Infantry
                                          ->Sassanid Horse Archer

Vandalic Kingdom: Fill in later.

Frankish Kingdom: Fill in later. Throwing axes and heavy cavalry prominent.

Ostrogothic Kingdom: Fill in later.

Visigothic Kingdom: Fill in later. Skirmisher cavalry of note.

Would anybody be interested in such a mod?

Sounds like a good idea. It would be particularly good if you could get in a good "barbaric feel" to the Francs, Visigoths, etc. Like in the introduction of the movie Gladiator :smile:

I myself will, thought I prfer you made that in the year 1080 AD with other factions of Course.

Mind that: Not Psioloi but Psiloi, not hippetoxtotes but hippotoxotes

I say that to you cause being Greek, I know a bit more... Also I'd like to play as barbarian at that age to conquer Britain! Also as byzantine to capture southern Italy and Sicily!

Glory to the ''ΒΑCΙΛΕΥC ΚΑΙ ΑΥΤΟΚΡΑΤΩΡ Danny''

EDIT: nOTE THAT I'LL GLADLY HELP YOU WITH SCEENING AND TESTING!
