*Explodes*

This makes me curse the fact I am poor and can't afford a new computer, this game looks... visually and tactically orgasmic.

Most certainly, sir.  I hope their gameplay reverts to more of the M:TW battlemap style though... I had to mod my game to make it playable, changing the interface and mouse mov't.  They can keep the differentiating mouse buttons though, that was a worthy inclusion.

Yes, it might be interesting, but mabye not because CA's gone to ****. I'm a pessamistic bastard arn't i.

This is the third thread on the topic though.

Yeah indeed, I hated it too when I found out there was a medieval 2 coming out, because of my crappy computer. I really hope this doesn't get as mainstreamed as Rome was.. but it still was pretty good.

Id almost bet that it'd get 100% mainstreamed, mabye even to the extent of stopping to support hardcore players, and mods

Agreed. Anyway, I hope that no matter what else happens, they'll allow the units in M 2: TW to take a bit more casualties before they rout than in R:TW. It's kinda dumb to see an entire army recoil once the first 12 people slumped over.

I am in total agreement.

well, you could allways mod the morale of your troops in the export_descr_unit.txt

...Of course you'd have to do that for EVERY SINGLE ****ING UNIT manually, which ought to be a... hmmm... 200 entries? Even more with certain mods, but hey...! :???:

there is a program at TWC that lets you change stats for all units at the same time time

Only low ranking units like peasants and such rout extremly fast, the higher the rank and general skill the less routing will happen.
heres a tip:
NEVER EVER EVER USE PEASANTS AS A FIGHTING FORCE...EVER!!!!

and they probably route because your a crappy general since they wouldnt route if they had other soldiers supporting them,or alot of cavalry charging them.

For Rome: Total War. I never had a problem with morale... for my troops. I always stomped the enemies though like they were cardboard cutouts though, even on very hard. I could win a battle barely losing one soldier, the first fifteen seconds of engagement in that game were the most important. If you could flank the enemy or press them into a 'C' shape, they rout, always. But I still enjoyed the game immensely. Nothing was more fun for me than taking an elite brigade of troops and battle hardening them to the top and equiping them with awesome weapons and then unleashing them on the enemy army killing half of it with just that brigade.

That's basically because the game kinda "sucked up" to Rome. (The fact that the game was called "ROME: Total War", might give you a clue.), and clearly, Rome was the game's "main character". Last time I checked, M:TW was called just that, "Medieval: Total War", rather than for example "France: Total War". If for example R:TW was instead called "Ancient Times: Total War" or something, then perhaps...?

Hey, go to hell dude.  I know what I am doing.  Lets see you win on VH/VH, or on hard as the Welsh.(VI expansion to MTW)

Medieval's slower gameplay allows far more tactical coordination that just enveloping the enemy with a larger battle line and maybe cavalry from the side.  That is all Rome's speed allows, its too fast and the units break too easily.  My troops never rout, theirs do.  While I admit that MTW has a flaw in that knights have nowhere near the impact that they should, Rome's battles are inferior in every other regard.  I will not deny that Rome's campaign map is superior to MTW's, but the battles?  Give me medieval any day.  I say that in all honesty.

Edited for spelling, cause I'm anal like that.
