I can see what you mean about the mail, Deja, there's something just not right but I can't put my finger on it (because I'm far less skilled than you are). The surcoats are glorious though and the helmets smashing.

I don't see any problems with that... mail coif under helmet can be different from the mail surcoat (the size of the mail rings their structure ets.)
 
tried a frontsplit one.

A simple white surcoat would be nice, so that people can texture other colours and heraldry's onto it.

Brilliant stuff; the only recommendation I'd have is adding some stitching to the designs to make them look sewn on.  Other than that, excellent work!

Actually until the 14th century, mail coifs were almost always part of the hauberk, not separated.

but the armor mail texture is the same as the helmet mail

this is not true. there's pictures from bibles from the 12th century with what looks to be mail coifs over the tabard.

I said "almost always". Separated mail coifs existed before, but were rare :wink:
