McBev Needs Computer Halp! (September 4th: New Problem)

Right, so I need help.  I just got a computer with this.  That would be perfect for me, except for the fact that my monitor only has VGA, and the card doesn't have VGA output.  Basically, I was wondering if there's a cheap solution to my woes.

And yeah, I googled.  Most of the reviews for converters that I've seen have given them 3 or less stars/eggs, on average.

Any aid would be appreciated.

edit - Wait, would the
  • VGA mode support on all display outputs
mean that a converter would work?

As long as the converter doesn't come loose often, I'd say it's a good one. And yes, the converter would work.

I used one on my old computer up till last year, and it's been used for that last year on the kitchen computer. Cost me three quid.

So yes, converters are fine

Awesome, cheers.

Now to coerce my friend into hooking me up.  >.>

edit - **** yea, if everything works out I'm gonna have said converter tomorrow, just in time for the weekend.  Which means that I'll likely be gaming by Sunday.

Dubble post; bleh.

Righto, so I figured out that I probably should format my HD before I try to install ****, what with the new mobo and all.  So I plugged my HD back into my old computer.  Well, long story short, it's not starting up.  I'm like 95% sure all the psu cords are where they go, and I did plug the psu into my wall's outlet.  The light on the power button of my computer turns orange, but not green like it's supposed to.

Anyone know what's wrong this time?

e - ****, it would appear that, going by the fact that it's an E510 and error lights 2, 3,and 4 are lit, the mobo failed.

ee:  Uh.... my new computer's PSU seems to have failed.  The PSU is plugged in, and even in both on/off states, it still won't even acknowledge that there's any power flow.

Only benefit in doing that would be if you are using a controller to play games and I guess playing something like a racing game where you may need more space.

I use a 24" 1200p monitor so I rather just use a smaller screen at a higher res. Images just get stretched more and more once you start getting a bigger monitor (or tv) at the same res, I'd also imagine it isn't good for your eyes to be to close to a tv so it wouldn't be to good if you intend on using it on a desk for home office use.

I use a 30" TV as a monitor as well. It's extremely high resolution and makes gaming much more enjoyable. I run it on 1920x1080.

Does this look low res to you?:

I run on 1920x1200, so ya, looks low res

Just sayin'. Ideally you shouldn't be using a TV as a monitor since the viewing distance is not there.

Have you been to his house? How do you know this?

Also, using a 30" TV is the same as using a 30" monitor for all intents and purposes.

The viewing distance is just fine. I've never had a single problem. Of course, at this point you're just arguing against me in an attempt to prevent yourself from appearing as if you spoke before doing the research, amiritenao?

Erm, a TV and monitor utilise exactly the same means of displaying **** o_O
