May I suggest a course of action

Ive tried out the May I suggest a course of action dialog option with Lords recently and found a few oddities. Really I have only used it to tell guys to go and siege a castle instead of looting villages which overall is really pointless for the AI as far as I can tell. Sometimes the Lords tell me they wont do it because they worry about losing too many men but Lords I have good relationships with seem to do it. I follow them to help out and they do besiege the castle...but they never actually launch an assault.

Seriously the other day I was ready to help King Ragnar take back Alburq and he just sat there for over a week while an army of Vaegirs ran around us like sharks (but refused to attack us even though they greatly out numbered us). This finally came to an end when the Nords and Vaegirs declared a truce but Ragnar never once launched an assault.

My question is has anyone actually seen a Lord launch an assault after telling them to besiege a castle or is this another bug?

the lord has to have a big enough army i presume, they wont commit suside, and almost all lords dont possess such armys save for the kings.

Well, while the lord in question is besieging, you can click "May I suggest a course of action" again, whereby you will get the option to suggest to him that he and you should assault right away. Most of the time they comply.

It is also useful for saving your fief or castle from large enemy armies you can't handle on your own.  Just send few lords toward your village been raided or castle besieged.

Handy.  The initial request then seemsto be treated as a suggestion to go starve that castle into surrender, and then you need to make a followup suggestion to assault.  Good to know, thanks

In order to tell multi lords to siege you gotta tell them to siege before the (under siege) is displayed under the desired location

I notice same thing, though, i have tried couple times it seems there is something odd, or i just dont know how to do it.
If you tell few lords to go siege castle, and then you siege it before they can, they will stay with you while sieging... but necessary none of them will follow you to attack... they didnt even we had 8x more men then castle.
If you wait until one of the lords to start siege, you get option with the same lord who started siege (together we can capture castle) and hes the only one who goes in battle with you...

It ofcourse could be just my game and some random calculation why they dont follow me in assault...

Same happened with me. Somehow all the allies should be visible on the global map going into the siege battle before you would go in.

I was summoned to follow Jarl Aedin who was heading to Yaruma castle with all the other Jarls in tow. After reporting in to him I suggested he go to Curaw. He agreed and told me I would be responsible if it was a failure.

Luckily we won and the King gave the town to me.

I do not have any controversy, around 1200 renown, and 20-30 honor at the time.

The only time the lords sitting around the castle that I'm sieging actually seem to help is when I'm the marshall. Otherwise, they just sit there and let me go in myself. I assumed it was intended like that, as a measure to make it a bit harder to be the one actually taking castles and such quite early in the game, since, as far as I know, being the one to actually take the castle gives you a significant boost in your chance to receive it, and with just having a few friends taking castles yourself (rather than helping someone else take one) would become relatively easy, thus making it quite easy to quickly acquire land, even with a minuscule army of your own. That is, however, just speculation on my part.

Tres Huevos,

i think your right about that,
but i have renown way over 1000 and almost all lords and king are my friends. About 450 days, so not early game.
I would think that this point, they would follow me in battle if i ask them... whats the point of the dialog option, if they just follow but dont take part in any action?
Yes, they will join in openfield battle but they do that without asking them to follow...
