Massive troop rebalancing

What's your major and which corps(if you know) do you want to join? I am using my GI bill + ROTC/SMP when I get back from Iraq to go back to school. Hopefully it'll work out that I can get into aviation, otherwise its either Engineering or maybe armor. I am tired of commo lol. My wife is taking ROTC tis semester, too to see if she likes it.

Major in microbiology with a minor in mechanical physics. I'm currently planning on medical (with a major in microbiology, how could I want something else?) If they open more positions to women (I can still hope, can't I?), I'll probably try for Rangers - I'm definitely intelligent enough for it, and as for physical fitness, I'm pretty fit at the moment, having done several sports including gymnastics, and working out every other day. But we'll see if it ever happens.

One question on the troops: They seem to get a ridiculous amount of weapon points. I probably phrased what I meant with weapon points really badly, but they should get 30 + a one time bonus of 5 per agility point. So, if one had 654234232332 agility and didn't raise it by one point, he would have 30 weapon points to put around.

30 per tier or level, because I gave them 30 per level as that would account for the points one gets for merely using the skill in question. I see now that it is flawed... hehe. I will divide them by 3 and then add their starting points back... Anyway I have a run @ 5 am and its almost 10 so I will calculate the appropriate WP for those done and then finish the other two trees. I know that I said Friday night and then tonight, but this makes it too much of a time crunch so it'll be tomorrow. Sorry for the continual delay...

of topic: I'm definitely not hardcore enough for the Rangers. My SFC is a former Ranger instructor and they just... **** that...

Military fitness and sports fitness is completely diffrent.. carrying around 50kg on ure back and havin fun with football etc. is so diffrent it's a shocker.

So, find a 5kg long pipe, tie it around ure neck, take the largest backpack u can find, and fill it up with enough stuff, that you can barely get it on ure back, then proceed to walk up a mountain..

Ull soon discover its harder than imagined.

(after which, imagine it walking for 5 days while wearing a gasmask and -40 deg C)

Sorry, I already go for ten mile runs with a 32 kg pack on my back every week. Try again, though. Also, it's not a 50 kg pack, and the pack is the first thing dropped in combat.

Bah, ruck marches are the easiest thing I've done in hte army... except grenades... they just seem to go right in the foxhole every time ...

Although 50 kg thats like what? 110lbs? **** that, too. Why would you need that much stuff? That's like... a .50 cal? wow...  topped out around 60lbs ~26 or 27 kg...

EDIT: I'm not running any where with a ruck... Props to you Merc.

EDIT2: Also I've never been in combat, but I'm pretty sure my ass id the first thing of mine hitting the sand. (But I'm commo soooo..... It's taco bell and ps3)

Speaking of grenades, G36E was telling me about a recruit into the army that threw a live grenade and shouted "Pikachu, I choose you!"

I believe he was held back for exta training.

GOTTA CATCH EM ALL DRILL SERGEANT!

Also, I fixed the crossbow line (and deleted the extra sharpshooter entry...)

AND I FIXED THE ARCHERS! Whooo!

I'm turning in for the night, sorry again on the pikeman/noble lines. 2marrow, promise... lol

rofl, no wonder the UK army is made of wussies then! :p

It's a completely diffrent ballgame when you got winter to worry about. 50KG is easily toppled with clothes, equipment and supplies. Such as tents, rations, etc.

We actually had to be 2 people to get both backpacks onto eachother. You certainly need that amount of supplies to live for a week in -40C.
Also, dont forget the weapon, its the most important part, and gets to be the heaviest over a long period of time.

and your right, first thing dropped in combat is the backpack. It's drop and drop, make sure your weapon barrel isnt filled with junk.

-- Also, im confused about the weapons skills things, werent they supposed to get +30 skills to throw around every level? correct me if im wrong but isnt that +120 for every tier, and actually sounds about right.. my character on level 30 has 380 in both 2hand weapons and archery...

First off I'm a US soldier, not form the UK...Pretty sure Merc is on her way to being a US soldier as well... hehe. Second, my backpack wouldn't hold all my cold weather gear (I have stuff that can withstand down to -70 F) Along with extra uniforms, field rations, sleep system, wet weather gear, rifle cleaning kit, maybe a tent (but probably not). third, I dunno why we even have that cold weather gear as it never gets to 0F in Iraq, let alone -70... Afghanistan maybe... pretty sure it gets real cold in the Afghan mountains. And a foot patrolling infantryman wouldn't carry a full ruck, unless he was going into an area completely devoid of US presence. He would carry a much smaller bag that would hold 50KG of cement, let alone gear . Which nation's military are you apart of emby, for curiosity's sake?

On topic- I dunno, thats what I thought, but I guess she meant tier instead of level, and some tier jumps go up 4  or 5 levels, 6 - 7 is the only one that is three I think. I think when I adjusted them last night i jacked them up worse, and made them too low for their appropriate level. I have a light day today, so as long as my wife and child don't place too many demands on my time I'll ba able to fix all of the ones done + finish those I've yet to do.

oh ok, US... right... well in that case the training aint that hard.
And our backpacks coundt hold all the needed stuff for winter either, thats why we use 2 backpacks.

Im from norway, and every time the US comes up for winter exercises.. They complain and always loose the wargames.. lol :p
In comparison we love the wargames, they are like taking breaks, really fun.

And afghanistan can get quite cold during winter nights, alltho nothing close to the northern countries.

got confused by the ROTC thing.. wasnt quite sure but it sounded UK'ish.. (i was thinking ROF/RAF) :p

ROF is the Royal Ordnance Factories. Sadly here ends my knowledge of obscure UK military acronyms and indeed military stuff in general, being a stay at home wuss with no interest in being shot at.

Loved the Pokemon story, Merc, please don't get shot or blown up if at all possible.

Back on topic, this all sounds fantastic stuff, a real experiment in troop balancing and will definitely affect tactics and gameplay styles, which I'm all for.

Wow, there's been a lot of work done here over the weekend! I'm with Pellagus, thanks to all who've put in the work on this (especially emby) and look forward to seeing how it turns out!

RAF is the Royal Air Force

On topic for the thread, looking forward to any improvement of the mod

Done with all but nobles, they'll be up in less than 30 mins... I'll post them all when the knights are finished. It'll be in a tab delineated txt file from xcell...

EDIT: I am inflating the noble's skills to represent the fact that they never had to work, just get tutored and learn. If this is a problem, let me know if you want to un inflate them.

EDIT: I HAS THEM! But they post wrong, soooo... send me your email is you want them...

I think this is a good idea.
