What he said... You will never be good enough. not even as an independent king. Unless they have some feature planned for the future where you can make a permanent peace treaty with one faction, that line of talk is a dead end.

it could be that kings hide their families away to keep them away from harm. in which case there should be a awesome quest to go find the families of enemy kings and kill/kidnap/*cough cough* them.

Well... I had at one point thought of that. They mention the daughters, and at one point the king asked me to capture an enemy lord so he could exchange him for one of his family members.

However, that seems to be just another lie of the King's family.
