Marrying same sex characters

As the title says it's easy to marry same sex charcters, done this quite a few time. So how to do it?

  -Take at least two castles, create your faction the give the other one to one of your companion.
  -Talk to him and ask what does it takes to create an alliance with their house.
  -They will answer that they would be okay to marry you at the next feast.
  -Organise a feast, wait that one of your lord does it, or wait the end of the quest.
  -You're married with someone of the same sex, enjoy.

So is that a bug, something intended or something that can't be fixed?

Are you playing with the most recent version? Every time I ask a companion-turned-Lord what it would take to cement an alliance with their house, they give me the "Normally that would happen through marriage, but no one in my house is eligible at this time." response.

I should add that I'm playing male characters, so it's possible that the bug does exist for females? I've not tested it yet, maybe I'll go do that...

Also, I very seriously doubt it's intentional to allow same sex marriages within the game. I'm not aware of any medieval culture that was tolerant of that.

I did it with a woman character, married matheld in .720 . It seems it has something to do with the females lords/characters.

in order to pre-empt the inevitable "it would be homophobic to remove this!" reply.  in the time period homosexuality was seen as evil and punishable by death,  so its more than realistic to not allow it.

It appears it's only female on female. Was quite disapointed that I couldn't marry Marnid. Guess It will stay a secret romance.

Which itself is more realistic for the period.  A secret, forbidden this-or-that, least the authorities catch either of you and subject you to less than pleasant ordeals.

Maybe the Lords are too busy contemplating the "awesomeness" of my Warrior-Princess cavorting with the Ladies of the realm to cry foul.
