March is here bois, how's your hype?

How is your hype going?

  • I'm getting more excited as the EA approaches

  • My hype level still the same as before

  • I'm getting less hyped about the game lately

  • I'm worried about the current state of the game

  • I'm losing hope, BL is straying too far away from WB

imo this is really misunderstood what happens in MP reflects onto SP, combat-wise, AI-wise. The other SP gameplay elements and unit balancing will of course not be touched until EA feedback from the community.
Yes but do we know if the beta is on a build of its own, or if they share build. not everything they are implementing in the SP might have carried over into the beta, we know they are working on the weapon crafting system, which might mean changes to how combat works/feels. The beta is likely a simpler build atm, to avoid issues when uploading patches. Therefor we cant say, that how the beta is atm, is how the game will be at launch, there might be alot of changes that are implemented in the core game, that has not been in the beta, but non of us know, we will see when the EA comes out.

Agreed.
The only thing i'm worried about is another delay due to coronavirus if Turkey takes harsh measures to confine it.
Cant really see how this would delay the game, cause its mostly a digital release, it could end up hurting early patches and content maybe.

Yeah, that's precisely why I'm worried about a delay. I doubt they'd release it if they can't fix it quickly in the first weeks.

I think you would be right, if we take into account how alot of reasent releases from bigger studious have gone (games as a service), but Taleworlds have gone out and said, that the EA we are getting, is a stable one, the EA purpose should not be bugfixing (of course unexpected things might happen)

I hope you're right.

I am still very excited.
I know there are things that needs to be fixed, but i am certain they will.
I am quite new to the forums as well, but following it since i first played the game around ~2008
Saw how taleworlds worked hard to fix the original game, then warband.
The company grew bigger, we still cannot say they are as huge as EA, Activision etc.
I believe many of us have huge expectations, giving constructive feedback is fine but lately lots of people (old/new users)are talking bullsh*t.

This is probably the only game other than animal crossing I have absolutely no doubts in my mind about the quality of the final product

Can we all just agree that we ARE going to buy the game and even if its defectous on some part we understand this is an early build and we shouldnt be worrying that much? Honestly I cant think of any of those problems to make me think on not playing this game
Game was announced in 2012 and you think it’s an early build with some early access release 8 years later ? game is a flop so far. Judging by their development cycle since being invited in June I express serious doubts that the multiplayer will be improved

They built a new engine half the way, that would make it 4 years of building a game from scratch and when i mean early build, I mean early FINAL build, the game is done, there's nothing missing here but actually features and bugs to fix

Everything ok Shema? Constantly trying to ruin other peoples excitement and hype because your own doubts, finding any bit of enthusiasm on the forum and then countering it with pointless slander.

Why? Is nobody allowed to enjoy the game just because you don't like it?

You might want to reassess your expectations on this matter friend... otherwise you're just fixing to get extremely disappointed(pun unintended).

I'm sure they'll try to make it as stable as they can, but there WILL be game breaking bugs I can assure you, you can test a game/software as much as you want, it doesn't matter how big your test team is, it will not compare to hundreds of thousands if not millions of people playing/using it, there will inexorably be things you didn't find.

Plus, no offense, but to say that the purpose of EA is not bug fixing is extremely naive, the game will not even be complete, which means they'll be adding stuff as they go, it is almost impossible to add new systems/features without running into some pretty funky stuff.

I fully expect this thing to be broken in many aspects, and so should anyone that buys into an early access.

They have said the plan to put out a stable EA, i never said there would not be bugs, they have said bugs will come up when new content is added, what i was talking about was the release we are getting. I VERY MUCH DOUBT Bannerlord will be getting hundreds of thusands to millions of people playing the game. "Plus, no offense, but to say that the purpose of EA is not bug fixing is extremely naive," No offence meant, but to use this sentence is pretty stupid as it is it offensive, but please dont take offense cause you should not, cause i said, dont take offense before it. I could have made my post more clear, I did not mean all of the EA, offcourse bugs are going to show up, its bound to happen with a game like this, but i do think, compared to games like Fallout76 and Wolcen that we are getting a more stable start product. Theres also a differnce between simple bugs and game breaking ones, Bannerlord will likely have tons of balance issues, but as to weather it will have bugs that prevents you from opening a game or saving or loosing chars/gear, i doubt it, but we will see.

I don't think their poor management of time is a flop. They can be in development fot hundred years if they want, end product is what matters.

It remains to see how many new customers TW will gain from the release of Bannerlord. I'm pretty sure the genre is one of the less mainstream ones. It wouldn't surprise me if they gain a similar amount of players as they previously had in Warband by just trading some older guys now with full-time work and other hobbies for some new non-mainstream kids. It might sound pessimistic, but it's kinda how the game market looks like today. Old genres are forgotten and new genres rise in popularity. Too few players willing to widen their perspective in a market with too many games and genres. Age of Empires was once something every kid in the block played, today a majority of them play Fortnite.

Eh, Maybe not millions, but I'd bet that the game gets some 200k+ players in the first 3 or 4 months.

Also about the "no offense", I'm not sure what you've tried to say there. I imagine English is not your primary language (it's not mine either), but really, I just meant it as it is, for you to take no offense on the use of the word "naive" as it was not targeted towards you, but specifically at the notion itself (if that makes any sense).

And about the bugs, I wouldn't expect to have a perfectly stable saving/progress system for single player if I were you, in fact I'd expect to lose progress many times over the course of the rest of EA development, again they can try and make it as stable as they possibly can, but there's no accounting for new additions and how that may affect an ongoing save on such a complex game full of individual systems.

But like you said, we'll see, anything any of us say right now is merely speculation.

There is no genre dying, the good thing about games is that anything can be popular at any time, of course you've got to be original and fun so you get reach, I mean space station 13 got a massive amount of players after Sseth's video and that game is old, ugly and hard. The problem is that youtubers that make Mount and Blade content are extremely boring and could only interest a niche audience, 1 hour videos of a playthrough are not only boring but also useless even for portraying mods, if you see skyrim youtubers they know how to make a summary of a mod without talking non stop over a random video. I'm glad Koifish, Simo, Artemis and LeRoux are making good content, this new generation of youtubers will definitely serve to interest people, also I'm hoping for the big ones like Sseth to review it

So true!
Resonant is the worst I've come across...
I put an exception on VMP because his personality is entertaining and he is actually competent at the game. Resonant is clearly at a stage where he needs the cash flow, which is fine, but his research and script for his videos are hot garbage.
