I am having the same problem.  latest build of both the game and editor.  I am using the game through Steam (which causes lots of problems).  I tried placing the files in the root, also tried editing the cfg to allow it to path there and still am not able to get it to work properly.  I am running windows on a 64 bit system with steam and running an 8800 gtx.  If anyone has any ideas please send me a pm.  Thanks.  Das.

Good morning,

I am having the same errors as the thread's author. I have manually checked the .dds files to make sure they're there, and I have tried pointing the editor to different modules, as well as manually entering the path for the editor.

I am running M&B 1.1011, map editor .90 (which is the latest I found) on Windows XP SP3 via Steam (which was mentioned above as creating problems as well), on a 64 bit system with an NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX.

If anyone has solutions or suggestions, feel free to PM me - or just post.

Thanks.

The map editor default setting is it tries to automatically detect the M&B install path, but steam installs it strange and puts it in a weird location that it can't detect.  In the ..\M&BMapEditor\editorData folder you can edit the settings.cfg file in notepad and switch the "mbPath" from auto to point to your actual directory.  I haven't tried this myself (I don't use Steam) but it should work.

I must thank you so much HokieBT. It worked perfectly! You saved me from having to find a mapper

check my above post for a quick fix...

"i had this problem and just solved it.

when u install to your root M+B directory, open the folder M&BMapEditor, copy ALL files in here.

go back to your root directory.

paste

run MapEditor.exe which is now in your root directory.

enjoy"

That was the quick fix link text, however, I have tried that and the pathing change.  Both cases I received the error, are we sure it isn't a steam problem?  I have a non steam version of the game I can install if it is, I just purchased an extra copy so my friend could use my old one :].  As I recall I was able to get it to work on my non steam version.

Ok, so there is a chance that steam had something to do with it.  I reinstalled the game from an old exe I had on a flashdrive from forever ago.  I installed it to the flashdrive, popped Thorgrim's app in the root directory and changed the path to K:\Mount&Blade and it works just peachy.  For anyone else who wants to try this Mount and Blade has a free trial you can download and just use the files for modding and it will install just about anywhere for easy transportation.
