Manual activation for Warband

I can't get my serial to activate the activation server. When I enter my serial in the first window, I get the message that it cannot connect to the internet and that I should check my internet settings/firewall. I completely disabled my firewall and added M&B and Warband to the exception list. I don't know what could be wrong on my end with the internet as it is running fine. The message says something about doing a manual activation that I want to try as nothing else is working. I can get to the servers just fine and see them, however when I want to join one, I get an "Incorrect activation key" or whatever. It is because I cannot get to the activation server when asked from the first window. I have only one key, the one I received when I bought the game and it is the same one that I used to apply for the beta.
Please do not tell me to uninstall/reinstall the game,  or check the serial again because that is not the problem. I don't need to change my keys in the registry because I have the correct key.

I want to do a manual activation but the only things I have are the manual activation code for M&B and the M&B serial. I presume to do a manual activation for Warband I would need a different code, but I don't know where or how to find it.

If you have regular old M&B installed, you don't have to enter your serial for Warband. You might try installing and activating M&B 1.011 first.
The Warband beta only appears to check your key when connecting to a game, but it just checks your existing M&B key there (no need to enter anything).

I don't see that happening here. When I first run Warband, I get asked to enter my serial number. The problem is, after I enter it, I can't get it to connect to the internet to verify that my key is correct and open the servers.

Huh, Warband loaded right up for me without requiring me to enter my serial and I have M&B 1.011 installed. I have no idea, then.

it asked for my key as well. i am able to enter games but i get booted fairly regularly and wonder if this is because it doesnt like my "player id" or serial

It also asked for mine, but I was able to put in my code and activate it instantly, just this morning.

I talked to a computer-savy friend of mine last night. Something on my end is not allowing me to get to the activation server. Something with my http connection, doing a little diagnosing over gmail, something that is turning out to be long and complicated and is probably not going to get fixed in the near future. The funny thing is, I just downloaded the new firefox update and I connected to their update server just fine.
I wonder if it's possible to override the whole getting to the activation server thing and just letting me join the regular ones.

Not true. I was playing earlier one day (monday or tuesday I think it was). And went to class. Came back from class like 4 hours later. Tried to log in. Tried to connect to a server. And bam. Got the incorrect authorization key. I was totally stumped. I then restarted and out of habit clicked refresh server list. Clicked a server, and I was in. The problem I then noticed was that I didnt refresh the list the first time. I even have a screen shot of the error happening if you want to see

Oh... I misread your problem then. My mistake. Let me read through what you've done already again, 1 moment

Edit: Ok, lets check a few things.

1: First, who is your ISP?

2: Do you get internet from a provider you or someone in your household pays for? Or is it provided through another entity such as school, work, etc?

3: Do you have a program called Spyware Doctor?

4: What OS are you running?

5: What anti-virus/firewall programs do you have?
