Managing troops that go into battle?

I'm fairly new to the world of M&B and I'll admit that I got this mod after only playing Native for a very short time. So, what I'm asking may have to do more with the game engine than what a mod can do. That said, I was playing through the other day and had my new 100 Knights of Dawn and 200 Noldor Rangers and was leading them into a battle. The problem is, when the battle started, I had about 50 Rangers with me and 1 Knight. While that's about the correct ratio, that's not what I wanted for the battle.

Is there anyway to control exactly which troops you bring into battle? I'd have preferred something more like 30 Knights and 20 Rangers.

Troops that are placed higher in the party window have more chance to appear.
So, for example, you have 100 pirates and 100 ninjas, pirates on top in the party screen, you'll be getting a lot more pirates than ninjas on the battlefield.

And check out the battle sizer mod.  It works fine with PoP just don't set it too high.  This will allow a lot more of your boys to join in at once.

Interesting,I wonder how you managed to get 200 noldor rangers and 100 knights of the dawn o_O

And yeah, higher places people appear more etc. But I wouldn't suggest overdoing the battlesizer,it can crash your game, stutter it,or cause your 100 man band to get owned by a 500 man army in a single fight.

Well, one way to get many Noldors is to beat them in battle and capture them (high prsoner skill). Then you find yourself two small parties in battle that are hostile to you, fight for one side, win, give them all you're prisoners (I think they can take unlimited numbers), then fight them and recruit your' freed Noldor guys.

Edit: Makes using a warhammer or similar blunt weapon with the Noldor guys very, very useful.

Not just Noldor but any elites could be recruited this way.  Hmm.  May have to stop selling elites into slavery after all.

This assumes both parties are unfriendly towards you, not that hard or easy to come by, it will depend on your game. You better make sure you can handle the second fight.

If you don't have too high relations with manhunters (like +13) and find them in battle with rabble or similar, you can support the rabble, give the rabble all prisoners you want to recruit (and only so much that they still fit into your party) and then wipe out the rabble. Pretty good odds to win both battles, but not that good odds to find such battles. And yes, it works for all prisoners, except signature heroes and lords I guess (not checked, though).
