"Man vs. World" missions, A.K.A. infiltration, und

Wouldn't it be cool if you could infiltrate enemy castles, raid the armoury, be a 1 man siege...

Wishful thinking. I love this game! Also, I would like it if there was an "adrenaline factor". Like berserkergang. You say what? Berserkergang was the extreme state of anger/super strength that the Viking berserk warriors could use. I like that.

Only problem is that
A) there are no castles at the moment to infiltrate
B) there are no armories at the moment to raid
C) even such operations were STILL done by a small group of specially trained 'deversants'
D) this is not another 'hero' who can solo entire armies and take over the world. The game seems to attempt to give players a feel what it was like to live during medieveal times, and attempts at being realistic as in terms of battles. No matter how good you are (were in those times), you would still get owned by being surrounded with enemies hacking at you. Best way to go in those cases, would be to take one or two of them with you ::)
C) I admit that of everything else, I know least about vikings (never was interested in them / read about them) however I tend to think they were in another era. (before crossbows were invented etc.) AND they didn't even use cavalry / horses. Somebody who is more enlightened please tutor me on Vikings? I'm probably wrong lol

No, it is "World owns Man" What i like about the game is that it shows you how powerless you are alone. 1 lance strike can knock you out, being surrounded, you can be instantly owned by the weakest enemies... 1-man siege is hollywood and crappy games. In real world, a Man gets owned.

Well he was talking about infiltration and not 1 man siege i think.

Would be nice to have tracking missions though :P

Vikings didn't use cavalry until they got Normandy, right. I'm not sure if they used them, but at least crossbows vere invented far before Vikings. There are illustrations of iron age hunters using crossbows.

You already have the raider mission. It is a nightmare - those ****ing raiders go in random direction and are lost somewhere on the map.

You might want to try games such as Call of duty, there is a GREAT motherfing level, callrd Eden Dam. You get to solo it just like in 007 Goldeneye! Only better graphics and weapons. It's also the level that made me get the cheats.
I did just finish the russian campaign in United offense without cheats so I can prove I can do it.

gah! somone else who wants to be a solo hero!

I dont want solo heros! i want my men and to be vunerable and to be killable and to have a challenge and realism and all the other things.

and the people who are on about Rome Total war and all those other tactical games NOOOOOOOOOooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooOOOOOOOO

but anyway

im done

*wanders off*

In response to the last guy, I am a one-man army. I purposefully do not hire anyone so that I optimize my speed and get the best weapons for myself. I have had great success in this way, while I die easily with "henchmen". Things that your "hired guns" do to you make it less than worth your while to hire them. For instance, before I started building my one man army I had henchmen that would push me right into the heat of battle. Hold this position command won't help, either.

In response to the others, yes I am aware that, as of yet, there are no castles to siege, but whether it happens are not, there is always the possibility of making them. In response to another, it is not necessary to fight your enemies all at once. One man could kill a whole army, providing that he found a way to face them one at a time. He would be exhausted but...

Think about it.

I prefer going solo as well, however I do drag 20 or so marksmen around with me. I just tell them to hold the most important position on the map.

My baggage.

I say... "Hold this baggage, or I shall have thy head!"

and they grumble under their breath... and move to the baggage.

If anyone gets near, they die. If I come back on my horse, all out of arrows, I have to jump over them to get to my baggage because the AI doesnt know to move out of the way of a charging horse. It's kind of pathetic, once you think of it.

"Oh, look... a horse is charging me.... uh..........."*SMACK*

If anything, I want some better AI. No more

"Oh, look... a horse is charging me.... uh..........."*SMACK*

of this.

Anyways, go try your one man army thing against a group of 50 Black Kerghits, with nothing but a lame sumpter horse, a hunting bow, and 3 bags of bent arrows.

I've done it before :D

I find that increasing the battle size beyond the max really helps to balance things. It is very easy to solo entire groups of black khergits and dark hunters on mid to low battlesize. Try it on 200% or more and unless you're a cheap horse archer, you'll find the game MUCH harder by yourself.

Not if you're mounted and make good use of your shield. But if you're on foot, yes...you are screwed.

Once they are around you, the shield will not help even a horseman - you cannot block 2 arrows simultaneously coming from the opposite directions. Besides, even if, by some unhuman virtue, you manage to keep all of them at one side, they will still kill your horse with their arrows - shield does not protect him.

They all bunch up in one big group. All you have to do is get on their right side so they can't fire at you. The game is very easy mounted, and while khergits may be even more powerful than dark knights IMO, they're still soloable (if that isn't a word, then it is now).

EDIT: Plus, they seldom hit your horse, since they always aimbot for your head or there abouts.

THey hit my horse often when they fire at full gallup -- they AIM for heead but arrows fly into the horse. As for grouping them, it is realy hard in hilly areas, though I agree it works on plains.

My charger had never survived a solo battle with more than 30 khregits

Compared to them, dark knights are a bunch of pussies!
