Male Circumcision - why still legal?

AFAIK it's more painful to the child because of the way the foreskin is still connected with the glans.

Also there's large numbers of men who are traumatised by having been circumcised as a child, just fyi.

In my opinion, it should not be done unless medically necessary, to treat something that's gone wrong.

How can you be traumatized from having your foreskin cut off when you were 8 days old?

It is the religious act of cutting off half your penis, i doubt the government would dare to even raise an issue about this.

Is skinning a deer like cutting the deer in half to you?

I think it's pretty easy to imagine having a penis without foreskin. Just try masturbating by pulling yours all the way back and start a-shakin'. Even imagining it is pretty painful. But I guess the destroyed nerves change some things.

Still. Making a major bodily decision for a being that can't give you its consent at that time is stupid. And pretty nasty.

Being circumcised never really bothered me as I never had any problems.

However I once had a dream that I had a wife that gave birth and that that I accidentally told the doctor to circumcise my child  and that my child lost feeling in his penis.

When I awoke my OCD kicked in and thought "what if that really happened?" and felt horrible.

Immediately afterwords I thought about my own circumcision and was kinda pissed that my parents had it done to me, but It was hardly traumatic.

@OP, First thought is why in the world do you come to Taleworlds to discuss something like this? But never the less I don't have a problem with it. Its part of some cultures, who are we to say they are wrong with what they do? They can say the same to us. What I hate more is seeing more cultures disappearing due to people who think they are doing the "righteous" thing.

According to Llandy, you must live in an undeveloped part of the world where they haven't heard of pain medication. Did you scream? I heard that's pretty bad. Supposedly, infants will scream. It must be a difference in tone or something, because I was under the impression that infants screamed a lot anyway. Maybe there's a "I just had a totally non-essential portion of my penis removed" scream that I'm unaware about. I wouldn't remember, though, because my penis was horrifyingly butchered (I suppose?) when I was an infant.

Maybe I've been living with trauma my whole life and just never realized it because it's always been this way for me. Hmmm. Maybe I'll start resenting my parents for making a decision for me when I wasn't capable of doing so, and potentially saving me from the same pain and discomfort that you suffered later in your life. Those assholes.

Also, what's this stuff I've read about people having uncomfortably tight foreskins? That doesn't sound like much fun. Wouldn't know, though.

That age can always be debated, but I see anything younger than 12 as unethical. Preferably 14-15.

There is no reason for the state to mess with people's established religious traditions when they aren't even harmful.
Mind your own kids and try to be tolerant to other cultures.

You can`t really be a Jew without being circumcised( right? ) so you`re going to a tell an entire group of people to go against a core commandment of their faith just because you don`t agree with it?  Now, I can see where some stuff would just be backwards, and at times evening threatening to public health, but this ain`t one of them, it`s very common in the U.S.

Secondly I never claimed to be traumatized, in fact I said the reverse.
