making villages and towns more interesting ? been done ?

was wondering if it was at all possible to mod the following into the game

that units such as

Farmer
Peasant woman
-Others units perhaps forced to this role-

instead of costing money would give money (becoming a support unit with a reason to protect them)

also with this feature i would then make villages and towns able to generate and garrison high numbers of said units

this would make capturing a town/village able to capture the population / and the following income
the income would only be availeble if they are garrisoned

along with this would also be the option to recruit from this pool of units

suddenly the game would have a damageable economy instead of the current system.

there could be a natural migration system where the game would send off units away from villages (if to many garrisoned) to other villages towns - there by populating the world with targets and things to protect.

 
Well, you already get income from villages. If you want to protect that income you must hire soldiers to protect the village, or in this case you hire the villagers and train them into soldiers.

Which to me makes more sense.
 
Maybe you could have your villagers make a farm somewhere on the map, and the more you garrison the more food/money you gain? could be similar to the camp option but talk to your villager.
 
anything as simple as reversing the cost of a unit would be nice

just instead of deducting money it would give money
