Making the Line Battle Rules.

Honestly i think that the majority of the regimental leadership (people that count you dirty private peons (yes you kator/herbiie)) will be attending a meeting to discuss rules in a more controlled environment anyway. I have been reading the thread to allow me to try and get an idea about how much the community wants change (although the plazek/herbiie/kator discussion/arguement seems to have dominated the thread). Anyway feel free to keep discussing away as i'll just be reading and allowing for people to try to persuade me towards their point of view.

Just to clarify i'm not particularly enthusiastic about changing the rules, however, if the community/developers wish for change then i will simply adapt training to the new reality.

I give back what I get. I will admit I can be a **** but notice how any animosity between me and Kator was dropped as soon as we managed to get back onto focused discussion, meanwhile Herb just posted an off topic troll picture.  :roll:

It is so shocking that I would return to personal insults after you mock me with retarded pictures Herb. Clearly you did not provoke me at all, I stopped provocation as soon as Vince came in here for the second time and told us to stop but I am not going to sit back and suck up your nonsense.

Nifty, the rules I plan to draw up are specifically regarding the issue you mention could be a problem and will most likely involve something along the lines of having to remain at your base until the officer of your regiment comes to pick you up, or that if your officers get killed while your in the field you will have to return to base.

Some simple rules in those areas should keep things organised and reduce the chaos. If I get it drawn up and maybe even tested on time perhaps we can discuss it a little in the meeting as well.

Just out of curiosity, do you consider seargants in the officers category or do you stop it at at lieutenants?

@Plazek

Yea....

Well done Herb.

Dane, I would consider a sergeant to be an officer capable of leading his men to the objective. I think I would draw the line at any lesser rank though. It should be the captain and his second.

Sounds good to me!

Conquest mode is now playable,  keeping order within regiments won't be much harder then a line battle aside from a few extra rules.  I think you should keep it that a line that falls below 5 men must either charge/fall back to a friendly line until your officer respawns and moves back to the front or falling back to your destinated spawn point.

Just so lines aren't easily push back if the officers/nco is killed, keep it to the proposed 5 man minimum. Then only being allowed to leave a spawn point with an officer. If you include SGT etc, you may see people using Officers & NCO to taxi forces to the front line

Just checking, some would draw the line at lieutenant others at seargant, but agree, nothing lower than seargant :smile:

Sergeant would be fine ... the 52nd has no mid rank between Captain and Sergeant because we don't see too much of a point in ranking scales, otherwise we would probably implement the full 1800's one where its about 20 odd ranks ... I think captain + designated second no matter rank is fine ... as long as its pre-designated.
