Making a New Character

Hi. I have made a succsesful character with his own empire. I keep on trying to make a new character and play it different but I just seem to give up all the time. Any ideas to keep me goin?

Maybe pick a different style? As in: if your original character was a heavily armed and armoured knight (and who's isn't?) try a lightly armed foot archer. Or a heavy infantry guy. I like to pick weapons and troops to compliment, so if I were going viking I'd have all Nord troops and only mail armour with an axe and shield. Playing with all footsoldiers makes it a very different game!

Be bandit. Raid villages and caravans, dodge lords. Start rebellion(s)
I really like that playing that style

I would suggest sticking with it... Seriously.. early game sucks for any style, you just have to wait for late game.

That said lately I have been having fun playing a non-combat type. I have been avoiding combat wherever possible and getting my experience from tournaments (when I win them) and the shared exp from winning battles. Instead of putting a large number of points into strength and agility I have been putting htem into int and char allowing me to have larger/faster moving armies.

In battle I just sit up on a hill on my horse and command my troops, in sieges I do the same thing just hiding behind a rhodok shield.

I would say however this would normally be a very boring style of play for me... but I do watch a lot of TV while I play so this kinda works.

Play ny way you want when you want - get up at Dawn and make your decision then.

Honestly though why are we telling you why and how you should play - if it's boring maybe it's not the game for you!

Well, if he have conquered all calradia with a kingdom there is little things for him to know.

Try a mod!!! Some of them offer a truly new experience. 1257AD for a much bigger "all", or Prophesy of Phendor for a fantasy setting and high difficulty, Brytenwalda for cool features in a Dark Ages setting... etc.

Making your own kingdom is kind of the easy path. What got me going again was that after I build a solid base for me and companion I picked a Claimant and help overthrow that faction and put that claimant on the throne. After that stay as a lord of that renewed faction and as the marshal try to conquer all of Calradia that way. Since you don't control politics it is extremely hard, so trust me when I say that your Claimant will give you a PILE of work =p

You could also try and put every Claimant on their respectful throne one after the other! That will keep you busy for a while.

In my next playthrough I'll probably try to play as a common man. That is, I'll make a character that mimics a specific unit, both in regards to strategy as well as equipment. For instance, if I choose to play as a Rhodok Veteran Spearman I'd use the same items that unit uses (and perhaps the same skills, but that might be over the top). This is so you get a reason to use items you normally wouldn't use. I would also use the same strategy in combat, basically run with the other Rhodok Veteran Spearmen. A common unit, as opposed to a hero commander, essentially. Perhaps that is something you could try out?

You can also add a bit of randomness to everything and let chance decide everything. Which faction you'll join? Let lady luck decide. What skill you focus on? Same thing there. What items you'll wear? You get the idea. Basically, make a character that's entirely based on the luck of the draw and you'll no doubt end up with something unique (imagine all the weird stat and item combinations you'll end up with).

Lastly, you can give the "Item of Destiny" concept a try. The idea is that you select a specific item type (e.g. one-handed blunt weapon) and as soon as that specific item type drops - regardless of what stats it has - you stick to that one item throughout the rest of the game. Until you find it, you're stuck with your starting weapon. It goes without saying that some items will drop easier than others, but at the same time it's possible to control the drops you get by avoiding the troops that drop undesirable items. At the same time, it means you'll use the starting weapon for a longer time, so it's up to you.
