I think that ultimately people become known for the quality of their posts. That is, if they add to the conversation, discuss things rationally, and look like they're making an effort to understand the other guy's point of view.
There are people here with relatively few posts but who seem genuinely interested in M&B and bring something that others might enjoy, find interesting, or debate. That's worth a lot more than the hundreds of single sentence posts that amount to "I agree with ^" or "That's teh wOrst"
So, you'll get recognition the old-fashioned way: you earn it.
