Make melee FF scalable please

How about admins get to set what percentage of damage is done in melee FF?  For example, they could set it at 25% (1/4 normal damage done to a teammate), 75% (3/4), etc.  Anywhere from 0 to 100%.  So you could set it at 1% if you wanted so that people will flinch when hit by a teammate, but not take much damage.  You get the idea. This would give a lot more customization options in the hands of the server admins.  Who is with me?  I'm so sick of full-damage melee FF right now.
 
Agreed.  It's particularly annoying with the people that swing wildly with any of the new uber weapons (long mace, long bardiche, great long axe, whatever), as those weapons generally kill you in 1 hit unless you're wearing max armour (in which case you take only 90% of your health in damage, ohh how lovely).

It also makes combat a bit more tactical, since you can't just wait for the enemy to kill each other when you're getting mobbed, but you can use the openings you get from one of them being attacked by a team-mate to kill them.  Best of both worlds?
 
Absolutely agree.  I would only really want to play on a server with melee FF set to 25% or below.

I like the 1% idea.  It would be much more balanced that way than no melee ff at all.
 
Nice idea, CtrlAltDe1337, much better than not having any and probably it would lessen the amount of griefing that seems to come with melee ff naturally.
 
Seconded, admins have been suggesting that feature (or actually the feature of toggling Melee FF on/off) since the Melee FF was accidentally implemented. :grin:
 
I'm glad I'm not alone in this.  It seems to me that having toned down FF is the best option for gameplay; you can't spam wildly with a two-hander, but griefing and accidental kills are greatly reduced.  I'm so sick of the edge of my weapon nicking a teammate and he dies instantly.  I don't think that's realistic, since irl you would have more control over your weapon than just 1 generic swing to the side.  And its not fun at all.
 
Indeed, is there any reason not to do this?  Admins could set it at 100% if they like the current settings, so you aren't loosing anything.
 
Yep, it's in all right. There are checkboxes for melee FF and ranged FF, and you can write in the damage percentage numbers for self and friend separately.
 
say those numbers are 50 and 50. This is the old "friendly fire damages self"  setting right, and the total damage is still equal to that of a full swing. So if it were say, 25 and 25, the total damage given out would be half of a normal swing? See what im saying?
