Make arrow damage more realistic

Ok i made a new character thats a hunter and my weapon of choice naturally goes to bow. Why ? i look way cooler with bow

ok now i went out alone looking for river pirates. I realize its very hard to aim enemy on a moving horse so i stop a while and shoot at them when they are still far away. When river pirates gets too close, i move my horse and fired at them from behind. Now since i'm no good at firing arrows on a moving horse, i cant get the famous head shot so i miss a lot but land 5 arrows on a river pirate. 2 on his leg, one on the stomach, one on the shoulder and one on the chest.

Guess what? he keeps coming at me !!!
what doesnt make sense to me is someone with so many arrows on his body can still move at his normal speed as if that arrow doesnt hurt. I mean if he was dark knight with black armor then i can understand but he is a river pirate with bare naked chest for god sake. I mean if i shoot an arrow at his leg, he should move slower and when i shoot an arrow on the arm then he should not be able to swing his axe anymore.

I meani got 5 arrows embedded on that river pirate body and he can still move?

Oh yeah one more thing i succesfully fired a head shot on the mob of river pirates (lucky shot) and guess what? He still walks towards me and he has an arrow stuck on his head

Dont tell me he is an undead river pirate that feels no pain no matter how many arrows you put on his body ?

I think the main issue here is balancing. If you made a headshot always kill and foot-shots seriously hamper the enemy it would make bows overpowered. Maybe.

On the other hand it's quite a good idea but a move to slightly more realism requires more programming and more hard work - it's not as simple as it may appear and I am sure Armagan will do it when he can!

I think this is really a game play issue and not just for bows. If you give someone a good whack with a double axe, in reality would they come at you as if nothing was wrong? No, but how fun would it be if you got hit and then couldn't perform for the rest of the battle? I mean it would go both ways right? I don't know how many times I've been riding around with a javelin stuck in my back. In reality, I would probably have died or at least been laying there dazed for quite some time.

Plus if you could kill river pirates with a single shot with a crappy bow at level 1, why would you need to level up? Later when you have your war bow with 8 in power draw and are getting 200 point head shots, those river pirates won't be giving you much trouble...

It's true balance is an important issue, but so far we've had only one or the other. In the earlier beta with a high draw skill and easy aiming you would take out a company of 15 black knights with 17 arrows.

I like it better the way it is now, it gives you a longer build up time for bows, meaning... you're actually going to have to DEVELOP and archer, un-like before when at level 10-15 you could kill anything with 2 shots.
