MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE GAME

The combat system for M&B is too excellent. It is, in fact, so excellent that I find I can no longer enjoy playing games I previously liked. This could be a major problem for the M&B developers.

I tried to go back & play WoW, DaoC, & most recently the DDO closed beta. Unfortunately, I now have no fun playing any of those games and find myself going back to my horse archer to sink some arrows into Sea Raider skulls after about 15 minutes.

The SOE's & Blizzard's of the world will soon realize your game could potentially leave their over-hyped games in the dust. Taleworlds, please be wary of corporate assassins & covert agents who seek to stop you from bringing your amazing game to the masses. Keep up the good work!!!!

PS - On a side note, if TW could get this game into an MMO format and add some more content / world immersion...this game could literally take over every other title out there. Can you imagine the PvP possibilities in a system like this???? Sure, connection differences might be an issue, but it's something to dream about at least.

Then you might want to look into Darkfall (http://www.darkfallonline.com). The reason I found out about this game is that the devs of that MMO said that their combat is similar to Mount & Blade, and if you want a preview of their game go play Mount & Blade.

Unfortunately they said that they don't have manual shield blocking due to latency issues .

Welcome to the forums! Always good to have yet another fan of this great game. I agree with you completely, i recently got SWG for a month, and can't even stand the melee combat in it...seems so primitive compared to M&B! What i wouldn't give for a realistic'ish MMO medieval rpg with this combat system. Ah well...i'm sure in 20 or 30 years some company with a few mil to blow will near Aramagan's greatness and we'll get our wish...now until then, off to kill some sea raiders!!!

Heh...too bad. I think that without the ability to manually block melee combat becomes a button mashing mayhem. I watched the video for darkfall, and thats exactly what it looked like...people running toward each other left clicking as fast as they can. An early beta it may be, but still...i have my doubts. At best the melee combat might be something like JK2 saber fights, but thats not much better. Oh well...roma-victor does look pretty promising. So does Twilight War...except with guns. About time we had a MMO game where guns took skill to aim, but a bit more like counterstrike than planetside.

Looked and the first game, so much bloom, everything shining like an Asyrian brothel. That's what prevented me from playing Guild Wars, worlds inhabited by Barbie dolls have little attraction for me. MMORPG will never have decent combat due to latency issues anyway

I wont play it, not because I dont think its good, but because its a payed MMORPG and its fantasy. If it was real medieval it would have been another thing.

I don't mind fantasy, but paying every month just to play a game is so monumentally stupid. Makes good business sense, of course, but It's something i view as plain silly.

Well, i completely understand having to pay a monthly fee and all. It must cost a fortune to maintain several servers capable of supporting thousands of simultaneous users. Not to mention the staff they have to have to problem solve. The only problem i have with it, is that i usually play a game for a bit, then stop for a while, and come back a while later. So if i buy a month, i may play 2 weeks, and not want to play it again for a month...by which time my subscription has run out and i basically payed for 2 weeks i didn't even use

We are all forgetting one MAJOR PROBLEM with M&B (*wink*wink*: I really mean major strength):

the modding community...

Also, start up the M&B frontend. Look at the top. What does it say? What? Beta? Really?

Yes.

M&B is not even done yet, and there are already a handfull of very good mods that you can play (mag-7, hundredyearswar, arena-expansion, just to name a few)

I mean, one thing that made the first HL is all of the mods you could get.

Also, the BEST game for RP-ing (IMO, but lots of true RP-ers will agree with me), Baulder's Gate II, has an amazing amount of mods that add hours and hours and hours of top-notch content. I STILL play both HL and BGII because of the mods...

Haha yeah I know exactly what you mean - I tried playing Morrowind after having M&B running for a few weeks and it was just laughable, I couldn't play past the first few levels.

I am so with the original poster on this one, I wish more MMO's would come out with a fighting system like this one. he's right EQ2, DAOC and WoW just seem weak compared to M&B (in combat system wise).

as someone mentioned Darkfall that is where i first heard about this game.

HAHA i had just put on my flame-proof suit (99 dollars at wal-mart) and come into here expecting to find the author fried to itty bitty bits... then i read the post.

sorry if this has already been posted, i had not enough will to read each of the posts but there is a major problem with the game....

no matter where u shoot or throw and projectile at the front of an enemy.. being his head or legs where the shield actually doesnt cover, it is automatically blocked... no fair.. x100

OK true, but would you really want your opponents to have the same benefit?

Keep your eye out for http://www.roma-victor.com/ too.
Oh the horror!
That game wont release for another 2 years.
Its in VERY VERY early beta, and with a small team of devs.

Its not a question if they would have the same benefit... I'd like this game to be realistic

Yeah, but to be realistic, if you can do it - then your enemies should be able to do it as well. That would mean that in order to block incoming projectiles, YOU would have to move your shield accordingly - too much work IMHO. Sometimes "realistic" needs to be tempered in order to have playability (or in some cases because of development/coding issues). This is still WAY better than anything else like it I have ever seen. Just my opinion of course *grin*
