Regular
everytime i go out of the country i get the same remarks.

"so your dutch... i smoke pot to"
"your from the netherlands??? sorry but i don't date drug addicts"
"man if i ever go to amsterdam i'm gonna get so high"
"wow that must be a wild trip"
"can i buy some x?"

etcetera

so i started wondering. how many people outside my country use drugs. and how many in my country. so here is a poll to get an idea and to find out if is's justified for people to think this way.
let's find out.

the post is here for a few minutes now.
14 views and no replies. so i think they are all users

your probably right.
but i really want to know. just game back from from abroud. and again al these remarks because i'm dutch.
it used to be about tulips, windmils and wooden shoes a few years ago.

I'm dutch (partly) and lived in the netherlands, I used to hang out a lot in the coffeeshop. all my mates did. and I smoked for a few years but quit just like I quit drinking.

I agree that foreigners are really childish about it. every time I speak to a belgian for instance it's:

they: your dutch aren't you?
me: yes
they: you got some weed?
me: *******
they: you stupid makak (and then they get all racial about my colour)

also tourists in holland come and be like: where is the drugs, where can we find the drugs, or they just stop when they see a coffeeshop and be all: oooh aaah. and act like children in front of a candy store. or act like it's something special, claiming how stoned they are etc...

does annyone remember when britney spears was in amsterdam, and she visitded a coffeeshop? they had to drag her back to her hotel because she had become sick
it was on the news in the netherlands.

Well I live in America, don't do any drugs now. Aside from a wee bit of lithium.

Don't smoke pot no more, used too when I was like 15.. ALL THE TIME. Then I decided I would stop, because I wanted to remember where I put my car keys and like where I lived and stuff.

/vote I do not do drugs of any form unless you include caffeine, alcohol, and the occasional cocodamol. I don't need them, so I don't use them. It's like... SUVs. I don't need a honking big truck, so why own one? I don't NEED to drink myself into a stupor to have fun, so I don't. I don't need drugs to make me happy or have a good time, so I don't use them.

What? I'm confused by this statement

im from england n i do pot occaisionally and iv done mushrooms once, go back to Temu's point, i think foureigners in Holland act like that because they are not used to having them as openly available as back in their country. We have the same problem (sort of!) over here with alcohol, because the pubs, clubs and bars are not open all night people binge drink. If everyone in every country had drug laws like they do in Holland i dont beleive that there would be as many people overdosing or rushing over to go to a coffeeshop and getting all hyped up over nothing.

Ha, I was in Copenhagen a couple of years ago and there were two foreign girls asking people which bus to take to Christiania. That was funny. Pretty nice place though, much different to the rest of CPH.

I'll pass on drugs, I don't have the cash flow required to fund a habit or the inclination to go against the law. I'll drink some, but not enough to get wasted.

the funny thing is that according to the poll people use relatively less drugs in the countries where it's allowed

As your poll is asked on a single internet forum designed for a specific group of people in a relatively similar age group and almost completely made up of only one gender, I don't think it is an accurate representation of the general drug-using trends of countries as a whole.

In short, it is not a fair question.

Not to mention the fact that the answers are skewed. Very few countries allow the use of soft drugs, so there are fewer people able to answer that. If you take a look at the general trend (as it stands at the moment), then the following statements are true: generally, in places where soft drugs are allowed, as many people use them as do not use them (2 use, 3 do not). In places where soft drugs are not legel, as many use them as do not use them (6 use, 7 don't).

well a few additional votes have been made since i made that post.
but not just this forum represents this. international research after this topic shows that drug use is relatively low in the netherlands compared to other western country's as france, the uk and the u.s.

France: they have not much else to do really

UK: they need SOMETHING to calm them down, otherwise the country would be one big drunken brawl

USA: the country that produced jessica simpson, the idiots that like to wear sheets on their heads, and where you can acually get rich selling window scrapers (for frozen car windows) in California (true story, I know a guy who lived there several years when he was still working for NATO, he told me, and decided at that point that americans are crazy).

ah well, they are still ok tough, i mean.... at least they ain't Belgians

(kidding Lhorkan I actually like belgium, your girls are so sweet, 1 in particular)
