hey guys and devs in now the main character can die in the battle or not for now?

At least first character can die only of old age but my second (my wife) died in battle while I was playing as her.
yes I think we can t die in battle for now I think in the future we can die as well 100%
I absolutely applaud TW for this implementation and was frankly a bit shocked they even put it in. There's a tendency for newer games to be, shall we say, more catered to the save/reload crowd that can't handle losing stuff or a set-back. I can ironman the game with a chance my dude and companions will die! I got the shock of my life when my new companion snuffed it a week into my game. Bravo! Some tension and surprise for a change. Having said that, your companions that footslog with the infantry may wish to be put behind the front line lol.

Just gotta micro them a bit more, if they get good athletics they can get ahead of the group and picked off easily

If they are good fighter they always are good at athletics as well and leave formation. If they are no good fighters, they are a weak link in the line and get killed. Same result, different causes.

Can characters die of childbirth? My battanian girl has 9 kids with Sein now.... oh and two of them were twins! (I hope that will be an achivement later

I dont think your own char can but that is just a guess. I have seen other nobles die of that even in my recent plays.
But I do hate when a companion/wife/husband dies in a siege. In your own sieges "Hello were are you guys?!" Amorcon died in the battle...
Even putting them in specialy numbered groups like say 5-9 doesnt help, you just dont know where they are!
Heck if I screw up on the battlefield (normal not siege) fine, but that way? Just seems cheap, and sometimes very random. "Oh we lost 25 guys! eh... 3 of our lords died... what?"

Well that was an interesting turn of events, new campaign, just joined southern empire as they are weakest and i want a challenge, first major combat Rhaegea gets herself and her army surrounded by a superior force of western empire.
I join the combat to assist and end up victorious, however, our dear leader Rhaegea died in combat...
Who gets voted new southern empire leader, none other than me, unanimously, after being in the faction for a week, and still only clan tier 3.
