aye there is progress, we made the greathalls furniture here the other day. Might post pictures soon.
Also fiendfyre will be a mixture of a particle efect and some models wich look like a part of teh particle effect, it will burn anyone in a certain radius, and aslo the caster.

might end up getting 10 kills (- 1 for suicide) or maybe - even more because of teamkilling, also the caster will be the last to die, so that if you use it as a last resort on a battle, your sacrefice won't be for granted

Ok, nice to hear there is some progress. About the fiendfyre I thought about a way how it would work and seem a bit accurate. So when you use the spell it summons a NPC which has the shape of a fiery snake head. It will attack anyone nearby. Getting close to it would mean death. It does have health and is able to get killed (Pretty hard to do though). It also constantly summons other NPCs which look like fire. Those NPCs also attack anyone nearby. And maybe when the first NPC dies the summoned ones die as well. Would mean its actually fire chasing you, rather then a particle effect.


In doesn't just chase the induvidual,but it spreads for the areas around, i don't know how makeing a giant flameing snake flying around and bruning people would work in the warband engine.

The curse is recognized with the shapes wich apears from flames, but the shapes are created (as you see in a link i'll post)

when fire from the curse is crashing in eachother.
also it doesn't have free will as it might seem, it spreads trough out the area around it.

Here's a picture of the fiendfyre we use ONLY for testing out the ballance of the different spells. not how it would look in the released game, but this is how it looks when we do a test match.

as you see you have to channel the flames from your wand for the flames to spread, it spreads more the direction you aimthan the other directions, though it DO spread there too. (as you can see behind me, wich is were the right flames and the left flames meet)
at the end of the channeling all the flames will be drawn too you, and kill you.

Ok guys, sorry for not updateing that offent. But this i think you will like!
Actualy it were requested further back.

Controlable AND (if wanted) PLAYABLE dementors!

Their strong side:
Imune to all magic (accept Expecto Patronum)
deals alot of damage. (this class will be feared by the players, just like the lore)


Their Drawbacks:
No ranged attacks.


There will offcourse be a limit on the amount of dementors aloud. (decided by the server hosters, though on the official, maximum 4 dementors on a 20 player team)

PS. Don't mind the weird looking deatheater robes.. I'm makeing the new masks and stuff as we speak :smile:
 
You could do a L4D Tank style reward system for the dementors. Like if they're in the top three on their team and die, that player has a chance to become a dementor for a limited time or pass it on for the next guy with the right prerequisites.

What you should have guessed: a PUBLIC preview event!
it will be an invasion event were everyone who wants to can join!
Though you have to sign up for it, ti see how many servers we'll launch because of gameplay effect.
(the less players on each server the more co-op)
though keep in mind that not everything will be included due to the fact that they're not 100% finished, iwon't include NEARLY done spells, only those 100% done.

So, anyone intrested? :grin: Please just write a comment or send me a PM saying that: "ah hell yeah i am!" and if you're in a clan, you can sign up "clan wise" just remember to tell me about how many you'll bring.

Later on it might be an opertunity for you to just play around with battles, deathmatches or just fooling around.

The date is yet to be set, but we belive it to be ready around the 10th to 12th of Feb.

Now Spanker, your reaction to this will decide wether you get a treat or not!
 
Sorry guys.. I've had a series of bad luck trough out the development, my ISP won't let me connect to teamspeak, steam, or any gameserver in that case, they say they're working on the problem but i have my doubts..
So because of that, my internet won't let me upload the trail! D:
But you deserve an update.

The progress so far:
Magic - Works like a dream
Clothing - We have robes and masks for death-eaters, students and some civilian.
Beasts - Dementors and centaurs have been made and rigged (maybe spiders will come too soon)
Scenes - This I need to do, though most of the props are done!
Hogwarts - Only need to finnish the great hall! (Also has ghosts flying around telling roumers about secret hallways etc)
The Roleplay gamemode - Done!
Quidditch - Done!!!!!!!!
Music - Warner Bros gave me premission to use the music we all know and love! (for a price..)


So with this summary i'd like to conclude that closed Beta starts in 2-3 weeks, might consider to release the quidditch part of it so you can play around with that, but I'll see if I can abuse one of my freinds internet for that ;D
