M&B's "Hidden" Key Shortcuts

Perusing the forums has revealed some stuff I never could have figured out in game except by accident or by systematically trying lots of things...so, I've read about:

- ctrl + r = rears your mount (useful to avoid galloping over steep pseudo-cliffs), very useful indeed...

- I just read that F9 does something like slo-mo for M&B...given that my graphics card is so crappy that slo-mo frequently happens anyway in a combat orgy of anything over a dozen people, this isn't so much of an issue..

- what other shortcuts and hidden features am I missing?

f8 =pause...i was trying to slow mo and that game stoped, thought id frozen it

shift zooms in(very nice for long distance archery, can see the arrow's path much easier)

I have a further question to pursue on this. Is there anyway to change these preset controls? I have tried repeatedly with different programs, such as Microsoft Word, even a hex editor, to open the controls.dat file in order to edit this control manually. Naturally I'd prefer to have the slow mo function near my main controls (arrow keys for my particular setup) so I can enjoy the...effect of it.

Anyone any idea how or if?

Sorry for hijacking this, but I had to say something.

Enkidu, I don't care what religion, philosophy, ideology, criminal record, blahdie blahdie blah someone has, but I honestly find that sig sick and offensive. Of course it's not my place to tell you to get rid of it, but it would surely be appreciated.

Enkidu, the link in your sig has made me shocked, especially as a cat lover having 2 kittens in my house. But after a little search, it revealed this as a well made hoax. Apparently some authorities in US including FBI has made investigations and no accusations were made. I have seen a few cases some people really believed in it (they are idiots or maybe they pretended to believe to participate the joke) and tried to do the same.

That site is fairly well known on the internet. I've seen it long ago, and knew it was a hoax, so was not offended. In my opinion it is just a well made joke, and anyone with some internet savvy could easily figure that out.

But suppose I can see that if you believed it it would be very offensive. And even if you did figure it out it could be considered bad taste.

Yeah that's a good one. Around 2000 the pics in the website were REAL obscene as if those were true. That made me watch my cats tight to make sure they are safe... I would hope those cats in the gallery had not been harmed. You know, some cats hate entering narrow places...

And some brainless snerts may create one.
Back to the topic, Enkidu, I would like to point out that "~ =zoom out" is confusing for me as it is not a hidden command and it is regarded as "view outfit"

~ would be which key? Not everybody's keyboard is the same, in mine I have to press Alt Gr and the key to the left of Enter nand below (and to the left) of Backspace... Not really viable.

Is there definitely no way to change it? I know the controls are stored in a DAT file. Theres no more universal file. Thats a problem.

Perhaps the use of a text friendly medium would be ideal. Still. Is there definitely no way?

If not, will these hidden controls be changeable in later versions?

I'm a cat lover (and owner) myself, and cruelty to animals turns my stomach. I think the bonsai kitten site is hilarious and shocking at the same time(assuming you realize it is fake). It's one of my favorite finds on the web(though pretty old). At least I didnt put a sig for fu-fme (which seems to be real though no less disturbing).

Sorry if my sense of humor is in bad taste, but jokes in good taste aint funny. I kinda think this goes along with my enjoyment of killing virtual people in games like M&B...if it was real, I would feel very different about it.

You can change the key assignment in Option>Control Then click the command you want to change and press new key.

~ doesn't work for me so I reassigned to L key. It can be used in combat scene or in Shops and inn of towns, or in Zendar.

By the way, Laurence. 'Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori' isn't complete sentence. It runs like 'It is sweet and seeming to die for one's country. Death strikes upon those no matter where they are; a brave in front, or a coward behind'. It means 'If you're destined to die, you'll die anyway. So it's better to die heroically to get some posthumous advantage'.
I wrote this because I found it very funny.

I was told it was "It is sweet and becoming to die for one's country," and the poet is basically scoffing at this, having been in war, and seen men "die for their country"--and he didn't find it sweet and becoming.


Enkidu, I still doubt the cats "enjoyed" the experience, and it's still sick that they were given muscle relaxants to fit in the boxes--I don't know how, being a "cat lover," you can support that. Meh, I still don't like it, but until a mod disapproves there's not much I can say.

For the record though, can we just count this as a PM?

Anyhoo, Tarrak (come to The Pond, bastard ), the key is called a tilldale (I've been told), if that helps.

Stonewall, the website is a hoax. Hoax means fake.

If the website= a hoax, and a hoax= a fake, then the website= a fake.

It's quite possible that the cats didn't get any sort of muscle relaxant. Most animals can fit through a hole significanlty smaller than the animal looks. Take for example a rabbit I used to own. It crawled through holes the size of my fist when I was 5. It was not a small rabbit.
