Yeah, couching is not useless nor totally broken this patch. Not in the slightest. It's no longer a "pick up and lead the scoreboard" weapon, but it's still totally doable and useful. It seems to fit in nicely as a complement to slashing and thrusting. And you CAN move a touch to the left or the right to adjust your aim. And even if you move far enough to reset it, it's not like a full reset. It only takes half a second to drop back into it.

I'd still rather see timed couching, but this is not NEARLY as bad as people are/were making it sound.

@scip: maybe they're actually making new animations to fit the new reach? It'd be nice, but maybe I'm being too optimistic... I like that sword'n'board is viable on horseback, but I HATEHATEHATE invisireach.

Can't wait to see how couching works now...
Now you have to press really ONLY "w" to make couching work
And if you want to be couched lance master you have to predict very precisely the enemy position with 10-second advance...

Upon further review, I think "not as bad as I expected" doesn't mean good. I like that effort is being made to make couched lancing more difficult, but I think we should try Welcome_to_Hell's timed/manual couching suggestion.

Hmm the couched lance nerf is totally broken.
- It makes lancing useless.
- It doesn't make any sence at all.

If anything, restrict the aiming angle of the couched lance to whatever you feel is appropriate and balanced. So when you overturn your horse, the lance just turns with it. Like it was before, that is, but with a lesser angle, if neccesary.
As it is now, it just doesn't work, it unlogical and useleess, sorry.

I am having high hopes for the performance fixes. After every map-switch, the game has graphical lags for me, appereantly due to resource loading (whenever someone with a new armor/face texture/weapon spawns).

Performance improved for slower machines????????????????? NO... actually is worse. I'm forced not to play any more. From 25 FPS on Ruined Fort with more than 30 ppl on, I got to 15 with this patch. Also, FPS spikes every 5 seconds... please revise what you said about performance...

  Crazy_Archer

Well theres nothing to revise... I am not the dev nor a coder who made all the performance upgrades ; however I made all the gameplay tests which proved the FPS improvement. We have tested this "fact" on multiple machines with different hardware and software and I can tell you that the changes are not for the worse.

Even on my home computer I use to see 60 fps on on 32 player average multiplayer round . after this patch I see 120. And these numbers are the average.

We even made an extreme test where one would make a 100 player bot game and use 1900x1200 screen resolution with all high settings...Guess what fps before the patch was 15-40 after the patch 70-110.. it is and tremendous increase. Not also this but Some players experienced a "laggy mouse" thing on  Windows 7 which effected gameplay.

Developer "Serdar"  worked really hard and also fixed this aside to all the improvements.

So we have the data to prove the game has improved in performance graphical vise. And I for one as a player both seen and experienced it.

So Crazy if you are having technical difficulties I suggest you give more information about you specs and try to understand the problems you might be having....

Good day

hmm.. switched to DirectX 9 and this seems to work better ... at least I dont have the lag spikes and the framerate is somewhere between 15 and 30 on a very crouded TDM server...

SockMonkeh, Thanks for the exe. Testing it right now.
( but something is odd: in the mail from talewords, it is written that the upgrade to 0.720 's weight is 14mb, and your exe's weight is 9 mb... And it's not a .zip or .rar ... )

Right now im using the older video card (gerforce 6200), I can say that overall performance has increased, but there are still many times that the game stutters, and it happens quite often. Any time cav comes close by and there are several of them it begins to stutter, if i approach a group of enemies it also begins to stutter. So yes performance has increased but there are still some problems. When i can i will swap the video card and post again with what i notice.

Also field by the river still has a major performance issue. average fps on that map has increased, but is still extremely low. right now i get around 25-30fps average, and it begins to drop from there.

Man ... I'm hearing a lot of "cav is ****" and "cav is useless".

Couching is unblockable, and the most damaging attack in the entire game, and it used to be the easiest.

Now it's hard. I don't deny that. However, it makes sense to me that an ultra powerful, unblockable attack, is hard to do. Doesn't that make sense?

Cavalry is not "****" or "usless"

Stab                      - Check
Slash                    - Check
Charge                  - Check
Javalin                  - Check
Horse archery      - Check
Couch                    -Check, although hard to pull off.

I know everyone is used to couching/easymode/noobcannon,  and I know a lot of you guys have never tried this, but if you press the attack button, you will stab with the spear/lance!!!  I think it's awesome that so many people are going to discover the joys of using the attack button on a horse! I know that it's harder than the old version of couching, but I believe in you guys.

Flameshield Activate

Yeahhh...no.
You've guys totally made the lancing cav useless. Might aswell just remove the lances since nobody will be using them. I was just online playing, usually theres a bunch of people with spears, now there was only me. I still managed to get some kills, but still, its totally stupid.
Why would a person not be able to hold his lance in attack mode while turning on a horse?
Blah.
I agree that couched lancing was too easy before, but this is ridiculous, now its totally useless and broken.

Couching is no harder. In fact in a way it is easier. Now all you do is charge straight ahead.

It just has no versatility now.
I have always hated thrust lancing because it is undeniably stupid and should only be possible at low speeds.

I'd like to confirm that the stuttering is still present. Not as bad as before, perhaps, but still rather game-breaking.
