M&B is majorly broken

It's been like this from the beginning, dunno why it's not yet fixed, but here goes.

Firstly, this is especially true for the Vaegirs, they're nearly never at war. If you join them, you end up running around killing bandits, factions need to be more active.

But more importantly, when joining a faction, they have these annoying "follow me!" missions that completely undermine and break the game. Basically your forced to follow a unit while it does... nothing! I'm not sure about anyone else, but I don't find clicking after some random guy as he runs back and force accross a map fun. I did this constantly over an in-game week without anything happening, except my men getting pissed and food running out.

If you stop following the random (and you don't really have a choice if you actually want to play the game), he gets pissy, disbands you from the army, and your faction relation goes down.

This whole system completely breaks the game, I don't know why it's been implimented, or whats fun about following AI as it walks around doing nothing, and why you should be punished for attempting to play the game, but you are, and it needs fixing asap.

While I wouldn't say it's broken, I'd say there's way the game could be majority improved. Little things like being able to adjust the speed of your troops since it's rare the cows/band of soldiers you need to trail behind will go at the same speed and even rarer if they go faster than you.

true, it would make it easier to follow them. But even if that was implimented, it'd just mean that rather sitting at your computer while your guys follow them around, you can go watch a movie for 90min and hope your guys are done by the time you get back <_<

I seem to get the opposite of you.  For me Veagirs are at war with usually at least 2 people at a time and whenever i follow lords they always seemt o wait for a few days then go conquer a castle.  So I think you just have a unlucky game.

my bro had the same problem though and ended up leaving the faction because of it.

You can't leave a lack of gameplay down to luck... either the concept should be removed, or they need to hardcode some AI to force the guy your following to actually do something. Personally, I say the AI should only ask you to follow them when they're actually planning on doing something.

They should do something about that pesky marshall summoning you for war when there  is none going on...
Especially when you are busy trying to recreate the crusades with your band of knights

Just hold space and wait awhile. Or better yet, set cows to follow you in menus.txt!

I don't think the wandering Marshal problem is restricted to the Vaegirs. I once had to follow King Harlaus for about six weeks while he trotted around one small piece of map. You get called to war when the AI has a target, but a problem arises when an allied faction besieges the target before your lot arrives. The AI then waits for the other faction to finish its siege, or just gets confused tries to decide what castle to attack next; while the player waits and  haemorrhages troops through low morale (why does morale drop when you're NOT fighting and troops are still getting paid?).

Maybe they need the experience for thier next job application

Well..... the Vaegirs have been at war with the Nords right at the start of my Nord game, we thrashed them and they were at peace for about 9 weeks.  Then they declared war again...... and the Nord Empire went to hell in a handcart.  In 3 days they took the entire Wecheg peninsular and Wercheg itself and burnt 2/3rds of the Nord villages.  We are just about holding them aoutside of Sargoth.  Seems the long peace gave Yargolek the time to build his army, his personsal warband is massive, over 220 men including over 100 archers and 50 knights.

So they may take thier time to fight, but when they do they dont pull punches.
