M&B II (???)

I've been reading the threads and I saw a lot of references by Armagan et al to a M&B II which among other things would have multiplayer and all kinds of improvements.

Personally I wonder if it is not too early to start talking / planning another game given that this one isn't complete yet. My question is why this is being talked about? If you've got ideas of improvements for 'M&B II' and how to implement them why not include them in M&B I?

I don't want to be a spoil sport but suspicions are aroused. If you're going to (and I'm not saying you are) to take out stuff that was planned for M&B I and put them into another game what happens is that you force all the people who have already paid the full price early for M&B I to pay double.

I hope I'm wrong about this.

Full price? Mate I paid like $16 australian. It's a freaking bargain. I hardly consider that full price for a game.

Whilst we might be paying to be the most dedicated beta testers around I am more than happy to do so for such an original combat system.

some things can't be implemented in this game, but people still want them. that's why they say: well if we ever make M&BII then we'll implement those things

(at least that's what I'm thinking)

besides you didn't pay much. 2 packs of sigarettes cost more then this game.

It seems it's more like when he says something of the sort "that might be a good idea for M&B 2" that's code for "that sounds like it could be a good idea, but it's way too much work to put it into the game." Also, perhaps it could point to "my experience or expertise is not as great in that area that I would want to quite go in that direction exactly right now" which may be applicable to requests for multiplayer on-line support (although this is just a conjecture on my part, although making a not so cheater/hack friendly netcode is no trivial business, so this is why I suggest it).

It's because people are constantly asking for new features and and are suggesting ideas, which although good in theory, I think he has to say this, because it may be a good idea, but it's too much work for one person to finish in a resonable timeframe. So maybe in a long long while, (like if M&B 2 gets made) you might see these features you are asking for

I could buy three packs of cigarettes with that money. Are taxes that high in Australia?

I live in belgium.

I pay 4.45 Euro for a pack of cigarettes, so It's more like, I can buy 2 packs and 1/4 for the money I payed for this game

I agree; I think it's Armagan's way of being polite. It stifles creativity and innovation to respond to suggestions with "Sure we'll do it, once we hire ten more people for the next 12 months, moron" That tends to intimidate the less confident suggestion-maker. So Armagan says Perhaps in M&B2.

At work, one of the newly hired engineers is always suggesting these greatly ambitious solutions that "would only take two dozen staff members and six months" without realizing that his suggestion had already been tried last year with twice as much engineers and a year's development time. My boss and I just looked at each other and sighed. Everything's easy if you don't have to do it yourself. That's the attitude at times on this forum; I've seen the posts where the newguy always says it would be no problem to do this or that. Sure, not for him.

Armagan deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Also, Armagan has said for example that three-way battles can't be implemented because the M&B engine is based on two armies meeting each other and it's too late to change now. That's an example of something that may appear in M&B2.

That's about the same as France where I'm from. I was calculating it as being $12 and rounding up.

Where are you from in Belgium?

I live near brussels (verry close to the airport)

(but I'm not belgian)
That sounds very close to a riddle: What lives near Brussels, very close to the airport, but isn't Belgian?

I give up. What are you?

I'm dutch/indonesian/german

lol my mother and grandparents had to flee indonesia during the revolution because her grandfather was white and dutch, so they fled to the netherlands. My mom eventually ended up meeting a german guy (my dad) and they moved to belgium.

I wish I really was Temujin's heir

That is quite a story.

I want to ride a camel, by the way... I wish...

P.s. I've been promoted to a footman. I'm now worth 2 Patar a month (in Burgundy army)!
