M&B Freezes shortly after starting

After downloading and reinstalling M&B on my freshly built PC, I started the tutorial to give myself a refresher course on how to play and to also see just how well the built-in graphics processor will render the game. While very impressed with the looks of the game once more, I was rather upset when the game freezes about 30 seconds in, regardless of what I'm doing at the time. I can get to the first yellow flag, but as I enter the second room, or shortly after, the game freezes to the point that I have to restart the PC.

Specs:
Intel i3 3225 CPU, with Intel 4000 HD graphics active, running at stock voltage/speed.
AsRock H77M motherboard
4Gb RAM (single stick, DDR3 1600)
Windows XP SP2 64-bit (SP3 not released for 64-bit)
Seiki 24" HDTV used as monitor, using standard plug-&-play drivers
Mount & Blade 1.011 Steam-edition

I have found that SETI@home interferes with some programs, but I shut this and the BOINCtray process down before running anything that has issues with it, including M&B.

Well there's a start.. your graphics card sucks. Your graphics card can't handle mount and blade. Try putting the settings on the lowest of the lowest and try again. It could be that the number of men is too high for your computer to handle. As more men are generating throught the tutorial your computer can't keep up causing it to crash. The best thing to do is to get a better pc.

Money doesn't grow on trees, I'd say if you really really want to play M&B(Or even Warband), get a better graphics card.
AFAIK even one for £20 will do
