Grandmaster Knight
Ok, I've decided to turn my 'Enhanced Mod' into just a mod for combat until further notice. This is partly due to the module system not being available, but also to try and offer a different experience in combat while not forcing many other changes on the player. The goal of the mod is to create a much greater challenge in combat. Big changes the mod will make:

- Troops with higher stats and more suitable equipment.
- Player to be just another man. The leveling process will be much less significant for combat, as the focus here is on realism.
- Adjusted weapon values.
- Remove inconsistent technology (e.g. raw hide armour, plate armour) and ugly items (boar spear etc).
- Troops renamed (depending on popularity).

New version coming.

Changes

v1.00

To do

- Re-equip NPCs (companions and lords) with better and more consistent equipment. Top gear for their faction, warhorses for Swadians and Vaegir, no mounts for Rhodoks (?) and Nords etc. Companions will also start out with much better stats and equipment since everyone else in the game does as well.

- Adjust skill limits once module system is released.

- Adjust weapon/armour values.

Some interesting ideas. Good luck!
But my advice would be to incorporate them into your Legends mod. I know it is described as more fantasy and myth, but I think both can be implemented with some thought and something fun will come of it.

Make the flight model 2 times longer please... It will fake a "Blur" effect, that looks REALLY cool.

(This doesn't have anything to do with the so called "arrow bug" the other guy talked about =p)

...

This is my dream mod, the best of luck to you. If you manage to crack this out it'll be all I play.
But as to uniforms or uniform equipment. Yes on higher tier units, no on lower tier, it WAS a mess then.

This mod looks awesome, I like the idea of a slower paced battle, I love them.

I like it when you battle, and there is heaps of fighting, not just the one charge, then the rest is skirmish.

Seems like a hard job, working on 3 mods at once. Good luck with it.

Italiano, look at the BoW mod. I am pretty sure you will find a lot of good stuff to help you.

- Heroes allow you to spend point on your combat skill since we can have engineer/medic heroes in the party.
- Weapon master skill for all npc is at 10.
- Army use their own uniform depending on faction.
- You can recruit ranger to customize some soldier.

Anyway if you haven't tried Band of Warriors you should , just to see what you could use from the mod. fisheye did a great job.

Italiano,

you seem to have a very aggressive plan for this mod. I truly wish you the best of luck achieving all you wish to accomplish. The concepts you have mentioned will add desperately needed realism and challenge. Many are parts of released mods such as the BOW and EG II. But, some of the features are going in new and seemingly opposite directions. I am guessing this is your reasoning in making your own mod instead of working with somebody like Chel of EG. Not that I have any say in BG or affiliation with Chel, just a fan. At any rate, very exciting stuff.

My favorite proposed changes:

-Troops will be more appropriately armed and will have more clearly defined roles.
-Max party size will be controlled more by renown and finance rather than an artificial limit.
-Larger parties. I know this won't be universally popular, but it helps put the player in their place (just a man).

I am a little concerned with:
-Missile troops will have lower accuracy but greater range.

But, I trust you will do the appropriate research into ranged weapon capabilities of the era.

What if you made the battle maps flatter instead of larger. I think the the battle maps right now are actually pretty big, but all this hilly terrain prevents people from seeing the full scope of the battle.

Yeah I can see what you mean with preserving the integrity of gameplay. It is a real balance act to introduce elements of realism, without going overboard. Hell, I could sit here and write 10 pages of things off the top of my head that are "wrong" about horses in the game as it is now, heh. Archery, forget it I think there is like 100 pages on the topic in this forum.

One point I just wanted to bring up, hopeful without sounding critical. After all its not like I am making a mod, or even know how to. I am just another jackass adding my 2 cents..... Historically, archery and mounted troops were the king and queen of battle, mounted archers such as the Mongols and Huns were so massively successful not only due to these 2 factors combined. They were also absolute masters of horsemanship, which I guess in the game is reflected by the Riding skill. Reducing the overall maneuverability of horses may provide some of the overall effect you seek. Is there no way to play up the riding skill to alllow those who choose to have this "surgical precision"? Yeah, I can't really see a good way of handling archery...The game doesn't allow for indirect fire, which the English longbow is well suited for. I am guessing increased range and lower accuracy is the best one can do. If that is what you envision, then recurve bows, like the Nomad bow should still be high accuracy but reduced range to provide the functionality they have in real life, ie direct fire.

yeah bro f*cking finally
ive always wanted a realistic mod for .894+
what about new items? like sallets and nicer looking swords.

Italiano, I looked at all three of your mods, and I like all of them. I won't get pissed at you for spamming the forum with your work, as long as you at least finish one more. (With your Graph. Imp. already released, Partly)

Good Luck.

I'm feeling lazy and I'm not reading through the thread, but a glance at the title post didn't show anything...

Are you including the graphics updates? I want to play this mod but I'm worried about the performance hit to my low-spec computer.

Sounds peretty cool. I just hope that being in infantru won't be too hard if 2-3 enemies come charging with horses. If my character is too slow I can't avoid the hit and if the charge is so strong then I'm beat unconcius before the battle even begins, but I guess I can always be a polearm guy

This seems like a cool mod. But I think horse charges should do more damage i mean if you got hit by a 2000 pound horse covered in armor your not getting up.

Neither is the horse, a lot of the time.  A nice 'realism' addition would be horses taking damage from trample attacks.  Horse legs are very delicate, and not built to trample large objects at high speed while bearing the additional weight of armor and an armored rider.

what do you mean no indirect fire?....
i almost only use my bow for indirect fire (diffuculty 10 shots to the body from super far away only work because I am aiming at a cluster of enemies)
