Well, I am with the Nords. At a certain point the Nords were at war with every other faction out there, meaning that I had to run all over the place giving castles and even cities the necessary aid not to fall in the hands of an other faction.

Then the Swadians made peace.

Just the relief I needed. So I finished of the Vaegirs, then the Rhodoks, and now the Kergit as well.

Fine.

So now it's peacetime. Only Nords and Swadians left. At peace with each other.

So what to do during peace?

- Should I sack my army ( partly )? There's an ~ 7000/week payment that I have to cough up every week. I own two towns, two castles, and two villages.
- Should I just take the weaklings in my army, and go Bandit hunting with them, just to thin out my own army?
- What quests get me the better profit? WHO gives me the quests that get me the better profit, should I ask.
- Go for merchant?
- Can I ...

well, euhm... just what to do during peacetime?

You could go after bandits, but your party might be too big for that. You could try to find the claimant to the Nordic throne and help him to become king of the Nords and/or, if you ask every lord around, there's bound to be one who wants you to start a war with the Swadians.

Try to start a new war, with a quest.
Talking to allied lords will sometimes give you a quest to attack 2 caravans, so the faction will declare war on your faction.

This game is simply not meant for peace.

Okay, I was a bit afraid of that. A fair answer, thanx.

But I am going to give it a go anyway..

This is an area where Mount and Blade falls short. Since the game is mainly based on the battles and war, theres not much to do during peacetime. If it doesn't bore you too much, you could trade, do quests, and probably a couple other things. I say there should be a main quest completely different from any war, like solving a mystery or something juicy to do when your not fighting.

If you've got enough cash to pay your troops for a bit, I'd do quests for your villages and build relations with them so that when you need to recruit in a hurry next time you get in a war, it'll be a lot easier.
