M&B Collection [STEAM] Warband - serial number is incorrect

So I just bought the M&B Collection on Steam a couple of minutes ago just to find out that I can't play Warband online because the game is trying to tell me that my serial number is incorrect.

The key Steam gave me for Warband looks like this: WARB-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

Is there anyone who knows, for sure.. not just guessing, what can be done about this? What exactly am I supposed to do now? This is ridiculously unprofessional...

*EDIT* I can't register the key on the M&B page either. Is this supposed to be a joke?

*EDIT2* Got the number of digits wrong. Fix'd it now.
 
I don't understand what is ridiculously unprofessional but I would contact Steam for an answer since you got the game from them and they are the ones giving you the keys for the game.
If that doesn't work I would try my luck with Paradox Interactive since thet are the publisher and should be responsible with providing the keys to e-tailers like Steam.
If that too doesn't work I would come and yell at Taleworlds probably.
 
I'm so terribly sorry that I came to the creators of the software I purchased and dare to feel entitled and being angry about the subject matter.. I'm a terrible person :roll:

 
You are not a terrible person. And as you say TW is the creator of the software, they don't distribute the software and they are not responsible for the serial keys Steam gives you; for all we know this could be a fluke on Steam.

That said, are you trying to run the game through Steam? If so you shouldn't even have need for a key in the first place.
If you are running the game through Steam could you download Warband from TW and try running that copy? http://www.taleworlds.com/download.aspx?type=2

I already contacted Steam via support on that matter but I don't think I'll get an answer this week thanks to the holidays. Their ticket system will be quite flooded I guess.

Yes, I downloaded the game obviously via Steam and started it via Steam. It's telling me that my serial number is incorrect everytime I try to join a "Native" server (obviously, since I don't have any mods installed). As soon as I try it again, it asks me to re-enter the serial key. Doesn't work either. Downloading the standalone client now via the provided link of yours. Brb.
 
Your serial is 6X4 right? Yes, it is. Sorry I didn't notice before but this thread here is about your problem, it says german resellers but I suspect it's what you are experiencing. You are from Germany right?

Yes, I am, but I didn't buy a boxed copy or anything like the thread is describing. I bought it on Steam directly (digitally) and payed via Paypal. I bought the Mount & Blade Collection on Steam which contains all 3 M&B Games. I also found out that there are people with the same problem who aren't German.

Like I said Paradox might have supplied Steam with those faulty serials too along with german resellers.

This fine chap http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,220478.msg5373200.html#msg5373200 has also bought the game from Steam, got a 6X4 key and is not from germany.

I am sorry for the inconvenience but it seems Paradox Interactive messed up a bunch of serial keys and unfortunately you got one of them.
Hope you can get your correct serial as soon as possible.

correct, I'm dutch (Netherlands) and I have the exact same problem with the 6x4 key
