Heya, I was curious of what could be done with Thorgrims BRF-edit, so I started experimenting on some bump mapping for Zendar. Here are the results: (*All the environmental textures are of a custom texture pack)

Limestone bumpmap on a stucci texture, that's why it looks a bit weird. The brown stones on the right do have the right bumpmaps though.

Then I started checking if the lighting was real-time, so I added a torch:

Then I did the ground stones (they look a bit wet) and wooden planks and some other stone wall, and checked it in a darker environment:

Then I added a grass bumpmap, and since there was hardly anything to see at day I tried it at night:

I'll continue experimenting with bumpmaps on movable and animated objects, and post a movie or two later. Comments?

In the last screenshot, the Merchant's house looks like it's made out of hot wax or something.

Perfect for a House of Wax mod!! you can play Elisha and Marnid will KO Paris Hilton with a javelin to the eye!

 Yeah it kinda does look like wax, but:

But no other comments? What could be improved, like more/less lighting for different surfaces etc.

I think I could comment if I had an opportunity to try it ingame. The screenshots can be pretty deceiving..

(muhehe...cunning me.)

Wow. Just wow. Simple bump maping makes the graphics look a heck of a lot better.

this looks like some sort of cavern door from Oblivion!.

Please release these if/when (delete as appropriate) you make some more. You could make a valuable contribution to the community

agrees with that comment

Thanks guys . And I'll release it of course, as soon as I find a way to apply this to movable and animated objects. I'll keep you updated.

Looks nice in most shots, but ofcourse, as mentioned, it just a little too much bump in some of 'em
That's true, but then again they're all rendered from a single shader. I'll have to add some for different surfaces and textures.

Two movies are up on the repository, another one (at night) is uploading.

http://www.divxmovies.com/codec/ + http://www.virtualdub.org/index == 13mb instead of 90mb

But anyway, it looks pretty good, though I would try not to normal map everything... or the game will crawl to a halt on older PCs.

Thanks Thorgrim, I'll upload the smaller movies when I'm back from college.
Well, I think those with good computers would like everything normal mapped. I don't notice a drop in the framerate at all, but I'll make 2 packs for those with good computers and for those with older computers. (check your pm by the way please )

This is made of pure win.
What do you mean with this?

It is a compliment of epic proportions.
Thanks then!

the vids won't work for me, the extension is videoplayer
You should download the Divx codex for the .avi format.

http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/download/

It should play the file with Windows Media Player then.

I'll try and convert the vid files Thorgrim, if I figure out how to use the tools you gave me. Has anyone seen the movies already?

I have the latest DivX and i did try it on there, but it doesn't recognise the extension, it's not avi or anything, the type it comes up with is videoplayer
